Ill b driving from Akron to Portland to pick up my camper end of june. I have planned out hotels to stay at on the way out, but comming home, im taking my time and going offroad as much as i can, hike, fishing, relaxing. Other than crater lake, im not sure where else id like to go. Im taking the route through all the northern states there and back. Im open to suggestions. Id prefer to avoid people.

    You're doing it wrong.
Get an inflatable mattress which will fit perfectly in your truck and can sleep 2, and do your overlanding and hard trails on your way there. Save on hotels, plus hit the trails, which you can't really do with a trailer.
On the way back, do camping, hiking, fishing, eazy trails, etc.
Plus, in June, is warm enough to sleep in a ground tent.
Leaving May 19th for a 2 week overlanding trip to Moab, Mohave, Grand Canyon then Texas, with wife, our 2 youngest kids, and our Miniature Schnauzer - Sheldon Cooper, we are using a Rosm Adventure awning room with awning plus the truck to sleep in.
Will be booking a hotel in Vegas to rest and resupply and have booked a cabin in Texas.
