Hey guys first post, hope it’s in the right thread.

So a very strong gust of wind blew my driver door open while it was ajar. Now when I open and close the door is makes a clicking noise and gives slight resistance when closing the door and rattles when driving. Also the window goes up and down much slower. The hinges themselves look fine, door isn’t crooked or anything. I believe the problem is with the door check arm.

I removed the door panel hoping to get an idea of what the problem was but the window components and door check arm are in the door itself and not visible after taking the panel off. I was not able to find the problem.

So my question is has anybody experienced this before or have an idea what I need to replace? Thanks for your time.

The door check button is covered by a rubber boot on the lower door jamb in the front of the door by the hinges I believe.

With your window all the way up, and the door panel removed, slowly close and open the door.
Looking through one of the door openings you should be able to see the door check where it comes in the door.
Look to see if it is hitting the window track. If it is touching the track the door check is definitely bent.

We are coincidentally working a similar problem on an 05 here:

I just had the same thing happen to my tacoma here in NV. Passenger side door caught the wind. It pops when opening I pulled the panel noticed the door check strap contacts the window track when opening and closing replaced door check strap but need to get a new window track as it still contacts and frame is bent. Any suggestions as to what else it might be if the new frame doesn't resolve the problem

    Yeah
Bro you think my wife was happy when I did it to my shitbox? You probably don’t want her riding in it with you anyway.

Hell you’ve got a truck, it’s 100% normal. Don’t let the Jeep guys keep all the cool shit to themselves, ditch them doors, it’s summer!
