Has anyone had luck disassembling their Kicker remote bass knob? I’m trying to mount it in a blank OEM switch location under the climate controls.

I can’t seem to get the plastic knob off, I’m wondering if there’s a trick to it or maybe it has a barb inside that makes it impossible without destroying the knob. Thanks for any advice!

    Here’s the knob

Here’s the result I’m looking for

It pulls straight off. Grab a pair of pliers and wrap it in time tape so you don’t dig the teeth in. Then there’s a nut and washer inside that unscrews. Take out the two little Philips screws on the case and it all pops apart

How do you like the control this unit gives? In my last car I had an Alpine knob and it was nice to have but the adjustment was not good. It would go from nothing to full in about a quarter turn, so basically not very incremental or linear. I currently have a Kicker amp for my sub and would like to get this as I have the factory head unit and the bass output varies by source and volume level.

I have a Kicker 46CXA800.1T with the optional bass control knob and it works perfect. I know what you mean about some knobs being more of "on/off" switch. That was not the case with the Kicker bass control.

Yeah my kicker knob seems to work perfect and incremental the whole way through.

that's my biggest complaint with the alpine knob as well.

Yip, my Alpine does the same thing. Potentiometer's dirty too, so you really never know what you're gonna get.

$40 Really isn't a lot of money but I'm a big DIY>Buy advocate especially because I'm planning on making the exact same modifications. I don't need to pay for pretty aesthetics, I just need the potentiometer. Is there any chance someone who has also had the chance to break one of these open could give some details on the POT used for the remote and wiring up to the female 3.5mm jack. It would be nice to be able to use a random POT for pocket change instead of having to buy a $40 one I'm just going to tear apart.
