They were C1s... And I can't seem to find it either... :bananadead:
Short answer would be yes, but do you have a photo in particular that you think might not be right? The SAE fog pattern is low and very wide.

    Just some stuff...
I can post a picture later tonight after work, but what
I installed mine a couple of weeks ago and of course couldn't wait to see them at night. I drove over to a local store parking lot that I knew had a side wall without any windows or doors. What I saw was most of the wall lit up. I never took a picture. Tonight I did and the picture does look like everybody elses, but it's not what I see with my own eyes. Maybe I just need new glasses. Lol!

That one looks similar to the one I remember. But for some reason I was thinking it was SSC2's or SS3's. Thank you for finding that one though!!!

DD needs to color match their lens for their light bars with their pods.

It unfortunately comes down to which chips are being used. The light bars and SS3 Max family of lights all use a 6000k emitter, whereas Pro/Sport pods (when ordered as a yellow light) use a 4000k emitter. The 6000k emitter varieties of lights require a darker lens to bend the light to the correct output color temp. That said, COULD they get the light bars on the same color scheme as the other pods? Yes. Will they do it? I doubt it. I would say you'd see a Gen 2 light bar altogether before they redo the current ones IMO. Unfortunately they don't have the ability to make that move on the SS3 maxes though as that family of chip is only produced in 6000k at this time.

I don't TRULY know much though. There could be way more LED chip options out there as well that I'm not aware of. I do plenty of things that don't make sense... Even to me.

Five more weeks for me :(

Man, making me rethink my initial lighting setup. Was going to do the ss30, ss3's and ss2's... now I am debating adding ss5's like your setup, or doing ss5's and ss3's... so many choices! How bright is that SS30 on it's own? Really just want to supplement my high beams with the combo bar. Not sure what DD's lead time is at the moment, but I should probably order soon. My ss1's took over a month to ship.

Speaking of which, installed my SS1 ditch lights today. Still waiting on the switch, relays and wire to get them wired up, but the actual lights are installed on the brackets. I'll post a front end photo once my bumper is installed and full of DD lights :D

About the only one I can think of that would be a direct competitor for the osram white flat chips is Crees "XP-P" chip. It is similar in performance to the smaller 1mm^2 osram, the osram boost HX chip DD uses is a 2mm^2 emitter. The bases are also different, the osram comes in either a 3x3mm or 4x4mm (boost) package, where cree's xp-p is a 3.5x3.5mm package, like the cree xp-l HI they use in the Pro pods. But the xp-p is also only available in higher color temps, similar to the Osram. So it comes down to setting up the filter for the chip

Is the CREE also a 6000k output chip?

    https://cree-led.com/products/xlamp-leds-discrete/xlamp-xp-p

You can see the binning that Cree expects to be able to supply in the datasheet at this link. Cree is offering a color temp range of between 5 and 7,000k color temp for the xp-p. It's a high intensity chip, meant to compete with the Osram cu/cslmp1 chips in terms of output/square mm, for automotive applications.

The trend has been, from OEMs, that "cool blue" light is "better" (it's not) and white LEDs tend to be more efficient at higher color temperatures (less conversion loss to create red and green wavelengths in the phosphor layer), so the market demand for lower color temperature LED headlamps is not there. Osram has also published... research... claiming that higher color temperatures, above 5500k help reduce eyestrain and improve driver alertness.

The XP-P is similar to Cree's other "-HI" High Intensity chips, which do not feature a dome over the LED. They are not as efficient in terms of lumens/watt as a domed chip, because the dome acts to help redirect low-angle light leaving the sides of the chip and direct it forward, but the dome acts as a magnifying glass, increasing the apparent size of the die. The increase in visual size is larger than the lumen output increase, and a smaller lightsource is easier to focus. So small, very precise optics need a smaller apparent die size to focus on.

How are you guys controlling the backlights on your pods? I'm installing the SS3 fogs and also SSC2 ditch lights. The fogs are plug-n-play controlled by the factory switch, but the backlight has a separate lead not connected yet. The ditch lights came with a 3-position switch, backlight on/all off/pod light on. I'm thinking about tapping this switch to control the fog backlights. The only downside I see is that I could potentially have both sets of LEDs in the fogs on at the same time. Does that even matter?

Also it would be nice to have an OEM style 3-position switch but I can't seem to find one. Maybe just do 2 switches, one for the ditch lights and one doing both sets of backlighting?
