I am pretty skilled when it comes to paint. Wait body paint I am good at. Not MS paint.

"It should be easy" kills me ever time I get a drawing from someone and they continue to tell me how to do my job.

If it was so easy why the fuck dont you do it then.

I feel your pain, fixing drawings is a pain in the ass. I run a plasma table, i can t imagine fixing 3d parts for milling.

yep! That's the typical insight of people/customers.. just not enough knowledge in manufacturing. Then you add somebody who just got out of school for engineering and they think they can just design and engineer anything without regards to how its going to be produced. drives me crazy...

2D, 3D, it all sucks to have to finish their job before you start yours. lol

I hate when contratcors give me full building plans and just say to the take off for all materials and get me a quote. Then ask me the next day where their quotes at......:frusty: bitch its atleast a week for me to find time to do the take off then another 2 days to talk to vendors and get pricing. You want it faster do your own damn take off for materials and I will get you a quote faster.

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.

In all seriousness, gotta love playing the quote-er side of any transaction. Never fast enough for the customer, never enough time for people that we're waiting on to give answers lol.

    Happy Tuesday boys (and ladies).

    exactly!

People call me all the time just for a "ball park". Sure I can do that. I would estimate about 80k....... "thats way to much" well give some actual fucking information. And by the way that estimate is good for the next 2 days.

Anyone have a dash cam in this heat? I always have it dangling in my truck by the time I get back to it. Its a suction cup not sure if I could find a mount to use adhesive or something that would hold better.

Oh lord, how I know this feeling. I used to be a fabrication quality inspector, and I would get first article parts and a print plopped on my desk, look at it, and be like "how the FUCK did this make it all the way through TO MY DESK IN PHYSICAL FORM without anyone noticing at contract review, quoting, engineering, die making, etc etc..."

Part with 12 bolt holes and an 11x through hole diameter callout, radii that were physically impossible, squishy 3M VHB adhesive cut with a steel die blade that has a tolerance of ±.002"... the list goes on. Amateur hour shit coming from the big ticket aerospace industry names.

    I'm forever traumatized.

Now I do PPAPs and I get to berate people before the parts are made, so that's an improvement.:boink:

Alright, deja vu, looking for a V8 to swap into my Blazer. Open to anything from a 5.3 to an 8.1. Anybody been to a junkyard lately and seen decent looking donor Chevy trucks? Id prefer to find a complete drivetrain. Engine/trans/harness

I found my 5.3 from the JY in Flagstaff.

They had three suitable options when I snagged mine, but it was a while ago.

I snagged the complete engine and harness and fuse box. I left the tranny (which it had) as I didn't need it. Something like 410 dollars I think.

Watch out for those AFM variants (2007+), unless you plan on replacing the lifters and cam...ask me how I know.

And 8.1s are monsters...will it even fit between the frame rails?

Yeah, I pulled mine from an '02. That's the gen you want for simplicity and straightforwardness.

I pulled the VIN's off the windshields and then did an online VIN check to gather as much info as I could. This is ultimately what led me to picking the engine I did.

Is there only one junkyard in flagstaff? Would be rad to source it locally.

You could fit 2 8.1s in this cavernous engine bay.

There is only one that allows you to walk around and pull things yourself (code for 'cheaper parts')

There is another auto recycling place directly across the street that will pull them for you if they have them (code for 'expensive parts')

I love tooling around JY's, so the choice was an easy one for me.
