    Hey-o,

Anyone at all have any leads on 5x (at least 4) Cooper St Maxx in 255/85r16?

They seem to have dried up with absolutely no ETA on being in stock...at least @ tire rack and if they can't get stock, or even keep orders from just pushing later and later, it seems hopeless for an order to be filled anytime soon.

Maybe time to just get Geolandars, they can't really be THAT much thinner profile than the coopers. I just really liked the wider look of the coopers

Here’s a couple options. Not cheap though

Is that the only 255 you are considering?

    Performance wise I'm open to:

    Yokohama Geolandars
    MasterCraft CXT
Toyo Open Country (seems like the heaviest?)

But I just like the look of the Coopers much more, they seem to at least look the widest from every picture Ive seen they don't look too skinny and when I see 255's of the other tires I swear they always look super skinny in like 50% of the pictures so I can't get a good scale of wideness like I do with the coopers.

Mastercraft CXT are made by Cooper. They just have less sidewall ply and a better wet compound. The ST Maxx compound was made for people you drive gravel roads 80% of the time.

I recently ordered the Cooper ST tires in 255/85/16 from Tire Rack, but they said it would be at lease 3 months until they were in stock. I canceled the order and decided to take a chance on a set of Yokohama Geolandars G003 MT tires in the same 255/85/16 size. I'm very happy with them, they seem to roll really well, and they're near silent. I had a pair of BFG KO2 in 235/85/16 a few years ago, and I feel like the Geolandars are quieter on the highway. 34AAC13D-EFCB-4196-9F59-82F6AE5692B3.jpg

A wise old man once said "Only buy tires that are always readily available & in stock".... You never know when you will have a blowout or un-repairable nail it. You want a common brand & size, so you can just pull in at your local national chain tire store get it replaced and be on your way. I have had that happen to me twice in my life. Just a suggestion.
I know you want your unique tire size , but it isn't worth it in the long run. Good luck in your search/decision.

Unfortunately we confirmed with Cooper tire the 255/85R16 ST Maxx is currently on a nationwide back order with no ETA. They are building more but there is not an estimation on availability.

I have been rolling on the skinny ST Maxx tires for a year now.

I wouldn't buy them again. The most noisy AT I have driven. They did perform well off road.

Also, my tread depth has vaporized within a year..

I have to agree with both of you. Been running 255/85/16 Cooper ST Maxx for the last 15k miles. I like the look and they perform decent on road and pretty well off, but not noticeably better than a BFG KO2 or Toyo Open Country AT3. You might as well be driving a mud terrain tire for the amount of noise they make on the highway. The tread wears down pretty quick I have noticed as well. I'm not sure they will make it past 40k. They also never seem to be readily available.

Good point about the unique size.

    I think I'm switch to a normal 33.

Anyone want to buy mine? You can see where the tread depth is at. It's not looking good for 15k miles.
