Just installed a set of Michelin LTX M/S in 265 75 R16. Last tires were Continental All Terrain Contacts, which were great, but the Michelins are an unbelievably smooth ride.

what about Michelin LTX in 265 75 16? Go up a size for looks, a little more sidewall and ground clearance, plus maintain a smooth efficient highway ride?

I ran the Continental Terrain Contacts on my Ridgeline and loved them…
I thought they looked way more aggressive than the stock Michelins it came with, gave me way better traction in loose dirt, gravel, and deep snow…
I think they where equal to the Michelins on ice.
There wasn’t any noticeable sound difference.
I was thinking of going with them again on my Tacoma but don’t see it in 275/70/17…

I'm running Fallen wild peak AT3. Not "highway" tires but my truck is on the road 90% of the time, the other 10 is when I'm going fly fishing. They are a great tire for seasonal use without costing to much and don't weigh a lot. Great for starting from a stop in the rain or snow.

I had Toyo open country at2 and they were Terrible in the rain but decent in the snow.

I have the Wildpeaks… I am on the road 99% of the time… but when I hit a MTB limited access road… I’m pretty happy for the A/T’s.

Hate to revive an old thread but since there has been repeated mention of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S, I am curious if anyone has used the Michelin XLT A/S which is supposedly an identical tire specifically marketed for Costco. Reviews between the two tires seem drastically different (noise in particular) so just wondering if anyone has had experience with the XLT A/S.

I will be moving from 265/75/R16 Falken AT3W to 265/70/R17 and the goal is to reduce road noise and increase MPG since I am on the highway most of the time.

Best are probably Sumitomo Encounter HT or AT. 60k warranty, handles well in rain, and the AT handles exceptionally well in snow despite only being an AT tire. Cost is about $150 per tire. Almost all their ratings are nearly 5/5 stars on simpletire and discount tire. I own a set and they handle well and the road noise is low.
