Got the XT update last night c/o @Stormpeacock and also switched from Normal to Lite. Really happy with everything in the 5 miles it took to get home. I live in the city so the Lite setup is much better at low speeds and starting/stopping in terms of pedal feel.

My truck 2021 Tacoma V6 full cab - Got my truck tuned with KDMAX about year ago. Are there any updates to the turn. Truck run great. I can feel some little hesitation in the RPM range as the truck picks up MPH.

Lots of people updating to the KDMax-Pro+XT. We should have more reviews/feedback posted soon.

Anyone coming from any of the other tunes that wants to try ours, PM me for a discounted price.

We want everyone to be happy driving their Tacoma!!

Most likely Torque Converter locks up in 4th. There is a drop in rpms when it happens.

Nice! While I’m happy with my current KDMax tune, I’m interested to see more reviews on this latest one. My tune is from Aug/Sept before the pro update.

Ok well I was running OTT lite throttle and it was good. Ran way better than stock. Well today I downloaded Kdmax pro+XT lite throttle and went to pick up my new motorcycle. First impressions are that this tune (to me) is better. The lite throttle is super smooth, shifts great and seems to hold gears better. With OTT I had to use S mode for hwy because in D it would still down shift at slight inclines and had to give a bit more throttle to hold speed. The Kdmax tune I ran in D and going up hill only required small throttle input to hold speed and yes it did downshift to 5th but it still didn’t require as much throttle. So far I like it better. JMO YMMV

Any throttle response changes to XT? Or still have the lite, normal, sport?

Pro+XT has the same throttle choices as Pro and Pro+.
Sport-Normal-Lite throttle settings. Throttle settings can be customized to fit your specific requests.

Still Lite, Normal and Sport. I’m currently running Normal and usually I prefer Sport haven’t tried it yet with XT. But Normal provides all I need right now. I’m fully stock except steel sliders.

Just flashed the XT tune just now, went to take it for a quick spin to make sure all was well and that initial take off caught me off guard! I've gotten very used to the lull in the initial response and feeling the truck able to get out from under itself is wonderful, even in my quick spin around the block (though i am definitely gonna have to readjust my touch to the pedal haha). It feels like my big ass MTs are spinning much easier and free, I'm guessing due to the extra bit of torque down lower which is also fantastic. I'll be taking an hour drive up to portsmouth this weekend on 95 and I'm looking forward to seeing the results on a long stretch of highway!

I’m also interested in hearing some reviews on the new tune. I’ve got the last pro tune I believe.

So I've been reading all these threads (whew, and still not done.....). As I'm in an area where the nearest person to apply the tune is round trip 6 hours away, I'm thinking about just doing it myself. I work in IT and feel overall, this should not be a big departure from my day-to-day. I do have a couple of questions though.

    1) If I decide to buy this, is there a "store" or do I just PM PapaRee?
    2) If I purchase it, do I get all 3 files for the automatic transmission? Lite, Normal, Sport so I can flash each to try (assuming I buy the vfTuner and cable).
    3) I bought a Norco GENIUS10. Do I place it in charge mode or Supply mode while I flash the ECU?

    Thanks to all!

Best decision! I got tired of tracking down my tuner for updates. Now you will be able to change/upgrade whenever you feel like it. Good luck!

After driving 500 miles of hilly, curvy, windy roads, I have decided my Pro + tune does not like 6th gear in those conditions. In stock truck and gears I was downshifting a lot in D with about 18 mpg. After switching to S5 my truck started getting 22 mpg. It has more power and better mpg at 2000 rpm than at 1500 rpm in 6th. Unless you are running 80 on flat land 6th doesn't help much. Probably needs to stay in 5th till 60 or 65. Does XT help this with stock gears?

Loaded the Pro+ XT tune last night (upgraded from the 7.0 tune). I immediately noticed a difference. I feel the torque on the bottom end when leaving stop lights. Gears shift so smooth I had to watch the tach for the changes. Throttle tip in way improved. I used to run the SLT and was going to go to wife mode before this because the throttle was so twitchy. I loaded this one with normal and it , to me, feels nice and linear. Almost like stock but now the truck has the power behind it so it just goes.

Also starts up much quieter. I used to have to wait a couple seconds for the idle to come down. Not anymore. Also idles much smoother than both stock and 7.0 when warmed up.

Too soon to tell about mpg. I was doing tank averages of 17.5-18 on the 7.0 driving semi aggressive, 87 octane. The computer shows it running in the same range so far but I'll need 5-6 tanks to know for sure. I run 265/70x17 Ridge Grapplers ( heavy), TRD lift, splitter removed. All else stock.

Be interested to see what this feels like when my Injen cai and Carven catback arrives.

I'd say if you're on the fence about upgrading, do it. It's night and day different than the 7.0! If you don't have a KD tune, you have no idea what you're missing!

Thanks again Kreg and Dave! Knocked it out of the park AGAIN

I came to the same conclusion with KDMax 6 so I requested shift points of 45 mph 4-5 and 60mph 5-6. Kept the same shifts in Pro+XT. Kreg will adjust dang near anything to your requirements.

Stock gears, flawless performance tune KDMax Pro+XT.
