    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

Never got dry enough here for me to cut grass after the garage door installers left. I did manage to track down a new battery for my old DR Field Mower so, hopefully, I can get that thing started today.

We went with a stock color on the garage doors and it turned out almost a perfect match for what we've been using on the wood. No more painting ad dealing with wood rot on the front of the garage now!!

Old door - bottoms are held on with screws and glue at this point.

    And the new ones.

I'm amazed at how quiet the new door openers are.

    Enjoy the day!!

I’m a retired (medically) over 60 taco owner former Jeep guy. Just can’t take the daily beatings the Jeeps give anymore. Sold my 86 CJ In October. Never looking back.

Mike: small eyeglass size. I was replacing a battery in a JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speaker and the small screws were set in by a machine. It was hard on the fingers to break the initial bond of the screw to the plastic. On most small screwdrivers the shaft is so thin it is actually hard to break the bond, I have a very old set that are decent but made for small screws that were set in the 60's. The small shaft and finger pad on the top do not allow for the torque needed in todays small screws to break the bond. The screwdriver I used had a hole through the shaft that I was able to insert another screwdriver through to use it as s miserable T-Driver. It was difficult at best to manage the small T-Driver and hold the speaker stable.

Looks nice Mark. We replaced the new doors 3 years ago along with the openers. The new openers can be controlled by an app from anywhere I have internet access. I was tired of fixing 54 year old wooden doors with grease, bolts and bubblegum.

Having the Avalon detailed today. This will allow me to put another 2 coats of wax on this weekend before we leave on Tuesday.

    Morning all:

Welcome Ivan, fill up the cooler and pull up a chair on the porch, the rest will be along shortly.

Anyone hear about the Benjamin Button effect---INTERESTING!
Seems like they are working on a reverse aging process and have had some success in the lab with mice. I read the article and apparently has something to do with altered cells that work like stem cells that don't know they have a specific agenda and repair whatever they find that needs fixing, thus extending life.
Heck, I thought they wanted us to croak and not live longer, well maybe not, maybe now everyone will be able to work until we are 100 and then collect all those senior benefits!
I had seen this mentioned before, but this was the first in depth article I read about it, keep thinking "don't mess with mother nature", it seems like a lot of things eventually have adverse consequences down the road when they do.

They are starting to figure out how much older people know and how much they got done -- and realizing that the up and comers aren't suitable replacements.

Just read another longtime restaurant closed. The last HOJO restaurant has closed:eek: from lost business because of the pandemic. Had a few meals in several of them in my years past. Always easy to spot when traveling with the orange roof.
This one was still operating in Lake George New York. RIP HOJO

Welcome to the porch, Ivan! Pass me a cold one please.

Hey Tom, my wife got me these a couple years ago - use the heck out of them on laptops.
Syntus Precision Screwdriver Set, 63 in 1 with 57 Bits Screwdriver Kit, Magnetic Driver Electronics Repair Tool Kit for iPhone, Tablet, Macbook, Xbox, Cellphone, PC, Game Console, Black - - Amazon.com

Doors look mighty fine Mark. I have contemplated an opener I don't need. You would not believe how heavy the foam insulation that weights nothing makes the door!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! And just like that, back to real life. Trim and mow, replace the pool filter and add 150 lbs. Zeolite, and appliance repair between 3-6. Oh well. Need that pool running well, as the forecast hit's over 100 starting Monday!
But I enjoyed my truck ride again!

Thanks for the nice welcome onto the porch. I can stock the cooler but not partake, I’m allergic to alcohol. I break out in handcuffs.

My wife says it’s OK to play with my new friends as long as her dinner is still ready at six. Now if I can only get the grease off my hands by then..,,.

Got a friend's steering wheel adaptor machined down by 1/2", new holes drilled and tapped 8-32.

He's working on cleaning up his 1967.5 Datsun Roadster. Took me to dinner when I showed up in Austin thirty years ago. Been great friends ever since. I keep telling him I need to sell the milling machine. It just seems to take me ages to get things done and getting more absent-minded so it was measured three times, lock everything down solid, and cut just once.

Just felt good and muscle memory started kicking in after a few passes.

I still had a quart of Glyptal paint for the inside of his engine. I like deburring any flashing, and sealing everything up with Glyptal. No plans to rebuild any more engines, getting too old to do much engine work anymore.

I went into Oakland to have lunch with a friend today. I am reminded and forever grateful that the commute portion of my life is behind me. @2:00 PM 1 hour and 15 minutes for 24 miles going home. I did bring home a bag of Gus’s fried chicken so maybe I’ll get some reloading in tonight.
