Met up with @essjay today as he got his swingout from Brute Force!

    20220610_123141.jpg

Have to say it's a badass bumper that's heavily reinforced. Got to poke around the shop as they're super cool and got some ideas for my bumper.

Which speaking of, I decided to make a trip and check out some steel.

Really more like, I bought some :anonymous:

    20220610_150227.jpg

Might not look like much but you're talking several 3' and 5' long pieces in various widths; they cut them to my spec as I didn't want to fuck with uneven cuts on long plate

All 3/16" so it's pretty damn heavy.

Which one are you checking out?

The Yeswelder one is on sale for $290 right now which is pretty tempting for me since I don't build much haha, it's pretty light duty though

Forgot about Yeswelder. I know someone that's got their stick welder and he's used it plenty of times out on a farm.

Been looking at either the Eastwood Versa Cut 60 or Prime Weld CUT60; both 60 amp plasma cutters which are good for up to 7/8" steel.

Really I don't expect to cut anything thicker than 3/16" so I have no idea why I'm trying to go overkill.

    Oh, those both look sweet!

Better to have extra capacity and not need it than need it and not have it :D

That Yeswelder is cheap AF though!

I thought you were talking about their smallest rig, until I saw the huge discount on their second largest one for the same price.

    Nothing big today.

OCD was getting the best of me as I was clearing more stuff out of my garage. Found a box of "more shit to install" and came across this hood strut.

    20220613_144715.jpg

I had actually forgotten about it seeing as how I don't open up my hood often. :anonymous:

Opening it now though made me realize it's time to install the damn thing.

Well, now I know why it wasn't installed. It was completely stripped so I decided to cut the fucker out.

Mini cut off tool really came in clutch.

    20220613_143318.jpg

Once I was able to pop the ball off, I was finally able to get a socket on it.

    20220613_144543.jpg

Not your typical hood strut where you flip the metal tab to lock/unlock, the ball is completely encased in this socket I cut in half.

    20220613_145445.jpg

    It's the small things.

Still back and forth on what plasma cutter.

Then after that I'll need shop air.

    Then 75/25 shielding gas.

Funny thing; on my way to school 2 days ago my rear driver fender flare flew off.

I wouldn't have just left it there but morning traffic kept me moving and I was in the fast lane that day.

Day later, I'm driving the same route to take our dog to the vet and no shit, it was still on the side of the road!

Did another lap and picked it up.

    20220617_105916.jpg

    20220617_105929.jpg

Safe to say that the old adhesive was the only thing keeping it attached. Clips look like they've been broken for awhile.

Looks like I'll be ordering new clips for the flare, and finally replacing the interior clips seeing as how I have a bag full of new ones.

Didn't want to take the actual pic until I got done with a few things.

Taking care of maintenance today but with a few conveniences; wife bought me a creeper as well as a bug mesh net for the garage!

    20220618_081445.jpg

Getting the oil changed and figured I'd take care of my damn low pressure steering line; NOPE.

After some struggling in very awkward positions, I found out why I couldn't move the bottom clamp upwards.

There's already another one right above it that I didn't see initially.

    20220618_085105.jpg

It's not the top one either as I clearly clamped that and moved it down. This one has its tabs broken off.

My assumption is that a previous owner spotted the leak, attempted to fix it but failed only to put on another clamp.

I'll attempt to tackle it a different day when I've got time since I planned on spending a good 30 mins on the LC and no more today.

Good cause after further inspection, I realize I'll need to rebuild the front end :bananadead:

    20220618_085146.jpg

Since the windshield was replaced yesterday, I kept the windshield wiper arms off so I can repaint them. So that's a plus.

    20220618_081659.jpg

    @Yota X

I'll have to figure out how much you want for that front axle housing. If I'm going to tear into the front, I may as well do it with a locked housing.

    And @Speedytech7

    Thanks for the tip.

I kept telling myself I need to buy a bucket for washing purposes, but I'll have to add an extra one for the LC's oil changes.

Longer I spend underneath, the bigger my list of "have to do's" grows :bananadead:

@eon_blue is coming by next week which helps cause he'll be bringing back my OTC front end kit I let him borrow. I had mentioned needing to replace my steering damper but holy fuck I didn't notice this until today.

    20220618_092226.jpg

A previous owner took a cut off wheel to it, and failed.

Why don't you swing by tomorrow morning?

See about wrestling this damn hose off since it's in such an awkward spot. My small hands can't even yank it off :bananadead:
