Everything works better than I had thought it would. I might stop by an auto recycler for a sport edition center.

 

Finally getting to do some mods again.

 

Just doing the roadkill thing of don't get it right, just get it running thing.

not sure if sketch or hack but looped the ebrake wire around a washer and bolt to connect the blue tooth but the radio and phone remembered each other.
the fit kit would not work with the center so they'll be a gap. I reused and modified the OEM brackets.

On cold start truck has a slight misfire. Ordered six new plugs but they aren't here yet but luckily I keep two spare plugs for each vehicle.

New plug fixed the misfire. Yay.

 

also fyi the map lights for a taco will work on a 4th gen.

 

So the newer radio if I get tired of this one needs to be 7 3/4(?) Wide. Works fine now and does everything I need it to so I don't see me replacing in it anytime soon.

I have new solenoids coming as well as lowering springs. I've been shopping for new wheels be it in 19 or 20 in with a least 9.5 width for good tire choices. Soon I'll be back going on track days with the truck. Been too long.

Got the new quantum solenoids in for the 4Runner.

 

Time to do before and after datalogs.

 

Installed the Quantum Solenoids on the 4Runner. Install time was about 40min for me taking my time listening to My Chemical romance. I figured I'd post some install pics as there were questions about where the vvti solenoids are and how to install. This will be much easier to install on a na/turbo truck vs a super charged one since you'll have the belts and the housing in the case of the trd/Magnuson supercharger. Install is the same. First take off the intake and throttle body.

Underneath fuel rail are the vvti solenoids.

Driver side vvti unplugged.
pass side unplugged.

My suggestion is to remove the harness out of the way. Just pull up a bit and tuck to the sides.


So if this happens where the cap comes off don't panic. Get a good set of picks and go around the machine surface of the head and the solenoid. Once you have a bit of a gap you can use a little pry bar and persuade it out. It happened to me on both sides.

The new quantum solenoids installed. I used a bit of new oil to lube the o ring. It will be a tight fit so once it's nearly fully seat give it a good push and it'll fully seat. Now just reinstall the harness and plug it in as well as the throttle body. Pull the fuel pump fuse to prime the oil system then install the fuse and everything else and crank it.

 

Got my valve cover gaskets in yesterday and installed the passenger side this morning.

Part number and dat made in Japan overnighted yo.

I think taking off all the connections and the number one injector will make slipping out the valve cover the most easiest.

Clean for 136xxx plus severe usage.


Specs for valve cover bolts minus the two nuts. For upgrades later down the road for the 4runner and Tacoma. No pictures but #3 was contaminated in oil hence the new gaskets. I wiped the plug and am gonna run it for a while hoping it'll get better overtime. If not new plug will be installed. Cold start was much better maybe one or two little misses till it cleared up instead of maybe ten secs to clear up. I might install the driver side tomorrow but the plugs looked great on that side. If not I can keep it as a spare till it's needed.

 

New battery. Would prefer a lithium one like in my Tacoma but didn't feel like paying the price at this time. This one per the specs is a bit better in performance with near identical dimensions to the deka battery. I will provide a link to both. Only difference I can see is country of manufacturing.

I can see you've been spending more time in the 4Runner. The mods are coming again.
