    pinstripes. lots of pinstripes.
Got a shop to swap my tires and sensors to new wheels and in the process, both fronts now scan with my TPMS tool at 76 psi and the dash light stays on constantly. This is in addition to them chipping 2-3" of paint off of each wheel when dismounting the tires, not a happy camper.

I talked to them today about replacements but have a feeling they'll be cheap/generic ones. Anyone experienced issues running cheap ones instead of OEM? Despite changing wheels/tires often and running low pressures off road, I'd still like to keep factory functionality so disabling the TPMS isn't on my list of options.

Average sensor battery life is about 7 years so getting new ones now is good timing.

Generic ones with rubber stems are fine at most highway speeds. OE-style sensors with stronger metal stems are recommended for continuous driving above 100 mph.

I've put Amazon Sensors in 3 different vehicles at about $20 each. They have all worked fine. Two of those vehicles I still own with no issues. Normally 7-10 years is the expected lifespan, but the ones were still working afte almost 13 years in my Tacoma. I replaced them proactively with the last set of new tires.

I abandoned TPMS years ago, even buying new sensors from the dealer it seemed like one crapped out every other month and the one time I did have a puncture I could feel it before the light even came on.

I have my mic for my head unit positioned to mostly block the annoying light since the "bulb" is an LED and can't be pulled and supposedly desoldering it causes other issues.

Cheap ones work but probably (on average) won't last as long. OE if I'm not mistaken is Denso 550-0103 but some people/shops have had problems programming them in for some reason.

Pacific 40005 is an OE equivalent you can get at Advance Auto but they are $60/each. Can confirm they work perfectly though for me, programmed fine for me using bootleg TechStream and I can read them using an Autel TS508 scanner.

Thanks for the PN. I've got the TS501 that I should be able to program with. I've only used it to read the IDs so far.

I feel real dumb saying this but I'm not sure how to program using my TS508. I've tried several times and it never seems to work. I also use it to read IDs when I do rotations and then program manually with my laptop & TechStream.

You can find the same Denso sensor for $35 on rockauto.
