Shift solenoid control is pretty much as easy as it gets on these trannys

 

I'd actually go for this one if you didn't use the haltech to control it natively.

I know all that, my question is why is a jolt desired simply due to increased input torque? Aren't you just shifting (no pun intended) the problem? I'm assuming you're saying the clutch discs are more prone to failure than the alternative in this case

 

Clutch discs have about 1mm of friction material on them. You don't want them wearing it off if you can avoid it. Slow/soft shifts are for comfort but they ultimately burn the material right off and put it in the fluid. Hard shifts hurt nothing, at super high power we just knock ignition timing for a split second down when commanding a shift to avoid jolting too hard while still staying in boost.

 

You guys are awesome. I am gonna look into both of these in addition to valve body modification and added cooling.

 

Do you happen to know what the cost of something like this is?

 

I don't remember, it wasn't super expensive though. Introduces nice features, makes it fully programmable, can use paddle shifters, can make it hold gears... etc

 

I had started on an Arduino version of that, but I kept making it too complicated so I burnt out

Damn, the compushift website says they are out of stock. I put my name on the list so if it becomes available that is the way I will be going.

 

It's probably what I would do. I'm going Haltech and I have a manual so thankfully I can throw the stock computer entirely in the trash.

 

Maybe Ill teach the wife to drive stick....probably cheaper, definitely more fun lol.
