    She's lookin pretty clean

    20220626_200111.jpg

Took apart the blower motor and vacuumed out the ducts. Cleaned out the condensation outlet. Seemed like it was backed up.

Think I need to get the A/C charged too.

Didn't really get shit else accomplished this weekend. This heat really fucked my plans.

got the bed off the wrecked on. also. got some pics of the interior... shes rough! lol but the measurements i took of the rear of the frame, it appears to be straight. so clean up and as long as the front end is solid, the 98 will have a frame.

Ya I got the full OME setup front and back but they’re still relatively new I think. Installed everything fall of 2020.

Anyone running the BAMF LCA skids?

@Kwikvette going the Land Cruiser style, I ended up with a set. I'll probably install this weekend. But I'm kind of apprehensive about boring a hole in the structure of that little leg that the LBJ stud passes through and bolts to.

Has anyone had any problems with that?

I personally don't see the point in them. I have not heard of anyone damaging a LCA on a rock yet. Unnecessary weight and lower ground clearance.

Ya, I see that side too. Like you, I've never seen anyone have a problem those skids would have avoided.

I would, likely not even consider them but. I'm planning on replacing my LCA bushings, re-enforcing my cam tabs, and installing the alignment cam eliminators this weekend. I'll already have the LCAs off, so drilling them will be at the easiest point they will ever be right now.

Again, haven't seen where anyone has "needed' them, but I'll be on Slick Rock in a couple weeks and Rubicon in August. A little extra bash protection can't really hurt.

Besides... they were free... and since I'm one of those "cheap assed 1st Genner that doesn't spend money on their trucks", I thought it would be fun to wear them kind of like a scalp.

Both times through the rubicon I maybe got one new scrape. I would avoid the extra weight.

IMO you are better off welding on @eimkeith 's gussets while they are off that actually adds protection and strengthens the LCA as a whole. The bonus is a smooth surface for rocks to slide on.

I know not the answer you asked for, but IMO the better route to go or nothing at all. I never ran protection before and my LCA's show it. Aside from risk of separation at the rivets, the fuckers are stout.

The fact that the hole that needs to be drilled is surrounded by these rivets makes the hole less worrisome. I forgot about those rivets being there.

Ah hell... What's an extra 10, or so, pounds. More cushion for the pushin.
