Hello, just purchased an '04 Tacoma 2wd and I'm putting new brakes all around. Disc in the front drums in rear.
So I started with fresh dot 3 fluid and began the bleeding process. I'm at the passenger rear and a helper pumping brakes and holding. Here's the problem, zero fluid comes out of the bleeder fitting. Sat there for 20 minutes pumping and holding and checking, closing the bleeder after each check. So I went to the brake portioning valve or lsvp valve. Changes if there's more or less weight in the bed. Opened the bleeder and got lots of fluid from it.
But no brake fluid from either one of the rear brake bleeder. Any fixes for this situation? Thanks for your help

I assume if you're bleeding, that means you've gotten everything buttoned up. But you may have to pull a drum off and see if the wheel cylinder is being actuated by the brake pedal or not. Maybe even trying to open the brake line to the wheel and seeing if fluid it moving to it.

Probably a poorly done aftermarket lift without raising the LSBPV rod mount on the differential.

Next thing I'd gone to is pop the line off going into wheel cylinder and see if clogged or LSBPV is shunting incorrectly.....shouldnt need to pump, it'll gravity feed....
then back one step.....cylinders clogged up ??

If wheel cylinder and line is not clogged.....next thing up the line is abs or maybe failing master?

When I bought my truck I did not know the history of it, so spending $40 a side to replace my wheel cylinders was insurance to me.....takes couple extra minutes if your already in there replacing the shoes...
Glad I went in there and replaced everything, exsisting shoes were non toyota...fixed that....whole thing is oem now...
I bought the toyota cyclinder overhaul kit and now have two good as new rebuilts as a spare....

20220626_184639.jpg 20220626_184632.jpg Thanks for all your responses. Here's more info. I bought all new parts for both front and rear brakes. For the rear, all new hardware, wheel cylinders, etc. When I pulled off the rear drum the shoes looked brand new. When I pulled the wheel cylinder off, it was dry and no fluid came from the brake line. So the rear brakes haven't worked since, I don't know when. Strange. The truck is stock height. I did replace rear shocks with stock height ones. Pics are after cleaning the brakes that were already installed

It could be a poorly adjust LSPV or it could be something stuck in the brake lines. You've already eliminated the wheel cylinder, so you gotta start working back to where you find fluid. Open the line from the LSPV to the hard lines on the axle. and if if you don't have fluid there, then it's got to be the LSPV itself. Disconnect the arm and raise it all the way up (this would simulate a heavy load, and allow more fluid through to the brakes). See if you get anything.

Also, for what it's worth. I cannot recommend enough that you get a motiv power bleeder. It was a night and day difference between the 'ol fashioned bleeds of the past, and the power bleeder.

Ok so I have no brake fluid coming from the top fitting as you can see in this pic. Should I remove and clean out? Or is she a goner? There is however fluid coming in from the top inlet line.20220627_195301.jpg

Don't use thread tape on flare fittings.
Remove dust caps from bleeder before bleeding.
    Clean it out.

Okay, but I just purchased the truck, this is the first time I'm taking things apart. I totally agree with you.

Take a bleeder out and look at the tiny holes it bleeds through.
    Easily clogged they are.

Yes sir, did that to both rear brakes. Used brake cleaner on them. They were 100% working when I reinstalled them. And yes, 1 was clogged.

Did you lift the arm up and nothing came out of the top?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I have had a few over the years the brake lines break down rust and rubber clog the lines.

Rubber Hoses blow up like balloons or collapse .

    Lines get crushed !

I have yet to ever have a LSPV that ever worked!
