One additional word of advice for the Pipeline: If you haven’t done so yet, extended rear diff breather mod is basically a requirement. Frankly anyone who has a Taco and plans to do any adventures like this needs to do this mod ASAP. Can’t stress that enough. It’s like $20 and will save your rear diff and axle seals. Do it.

Okay I lied, thought of some other important things…
    • If you don’t know what permethrin is yet, go buy some and treat your clothes with it. Lots of ticks at Bearpaw as we found out. Pair that with lots of bug spray.
    • Bring $5 cash for the National Forest day use fee at camp. I don’t always have cash so this is always on my mind when going to remote areas.
    • Don’t go looking for camp on the same road as the Boy Scout camp. You want to go one road further east. Don’t ask how I found out… :anonymous:
And yeah you don’t need a compressor because everyone else has one. But start mentally preparing for the hit to your bank account once you get back and realizing you want/need one. And look up the Shellshock inflator hose write up to pair with it.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Got my eyes on a compressor, just today bought some goodies to start building a hose setup. :spending: Won't be as nice as jstemp's setup but I'm trying to save a buck or two for retirement. :bananadance:

Great bunch of people, can't wait to get together again. Hopefully the ticks and mosquitoes will let up some by then, but then the horseflies will probably be bad.

I do still have a compressor for sale. Will take a few $ off for face to face sale since I won't have to ship.

In addition to what the rest of the group has suggested, a GMRS/FRS or CB radio is helpful but not necessary. I believe most of us have converted to GMRS but I and a few others still have CB’s for talking between trucks on the trail.

A couple of extra radios is on my list of things to pick up in the future.

Several gallons? Usually you don’t need more than 5 (gallon per person per day) Lol next time I see the Wisconsin crew everyone is gonna be driving tanker trucks

I have one of these that’s pretty awesome for the trailer for long trips or large groups

water purification is usually easier though than lugging a ton of water around

Do you have "The Rock Garden" pinned on a map. A girl at work was telling me they were in the Mountain area over the weekend. She said they did some rock crawling. I showed her pictures of the Garden. She'd like to check it out.
Oh ya, they are Jeep people.

I do. It's on FR55552 a little south of Bucks' Ranch/Caldron Falls road.

It's worth mentioning that she should be using the MVUM to check which trails are open to full size vehicles, and season dates. Maybe she is already, but I'm just throwing it out there.

I've been thinking about getting a water filter for emergencies and situations where I might want to minimize what I carry. I was looking at the Lifestraw products awhile back.

Life straws are okay but I much prefer this one https://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Produ...89508&sprefix=hiking+wat,aps,129&sr=8-1-spons
The little bag that it screws to is nice rather than having to lay on your stomach and use a LifeStraw. Also more often than not I have a bottle with threads with me so I can just use that.

they are definitely handy to have.. first trip I made out to Colorado we ran out of water on one of our hikes (was way hotter than normal and more elevation change than expected).

This is what I started with
    https://www.sawyer.com/products/mini-water-filtration-system

worked great, but it took a while (like 30 minutes) to filter 6 liters of water to refill both our packs. after that I got the gravity works. Just fill the dirty bag and let it hang while you relax (dont even need to remove hydration bladder from your pack). so much easier and faster, especially if you are tired or need larger quantities
