Over the last year or so, spending any more than an hour or so driving has lead to soreness and numbing in my lower back and posterior. I've tried the limited lumbar adjustment as well as small travel pillows but nothing seems to help.

Now, it's 5 years old, so maybe I've just worn down the cushioning. Or, could also be I'm just getting too damn old.

Anyway, I'm looking for different options. Anyone had success with any particular type or brand of add on cushion? Does anyone sell aftermarket replacements for the factory seat cushions? Are the seats from higher trim models (TRD or Limited) any better/more supportive than the SR5's seats?

look into risers. They are quite popular around here. You can either lift up the back or the front or both to see what relieves the most discomfort

    Oh look, another mod....
Have you tried installing Seat Jackers? I had the same problem you did when I first got my Tacoma. Turns out the problem was my thighs/hips were the root cause of my pain.

They were very easy to install, and solved all my problems. Oh, and I'm almost 6' 3", but they didn't cause a headroom issue for me.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I'll second the Seat Jackers. I'm on the shorter end but I felt the lack of thigh support was causing my discomfort. Try different combinations with the front and rear until you find relief. Well worth the $$$.

Did you install the front or rear ones? Seems like a lot of money for what's basically a chunk of aluminum, but if it ends the numbness, I'll try them.

I installed only the front ones. It slight lifted the seat, but didn't raise the height of the seat overall. With my long legs, the elevation really helped my thigh/hip pain when I would drive for long periods of time.

I love my seat jacker. The front put too large of an angle but I used about an inch worth of washers and longer bolts in back to even it out and it completely changed the feel. The price is borderline crazy but it would be really hard to rig something safe up front. The back just requires properly rated bolts and some washers.

Thanks for the tip on the jackers. Ordered a set last night and hopefully they arrive this week. Next Monday we're driving from home (just north of Philly) to Portland, ME, so that's a whole lot of seat time.

You might also try one of the gel seat cushions. Amazon, ebay, etc. have them.
