I just added 200lbs of salt to mine the other day and it might last 2 months if I'm lucky!

It's the iron in the water that is a bitch.

Softeners can deal with Magnesium and Calcium, but the Ziolite resin beads in the softeners wants nothing to do with iron.

If you got low iron, you may get away with an on demand unit.

A water test will tell you more.

City… have done well a few times in the past. Yep, very different animals. Most of the new tanks say they are self flushing, but don’t believe it - I still had mineral buildup I had to cycle.

I still remember when there was no frosted and there was no ‘mini’. You broke up the mega pillow to put it in a bowl…

Should have included that in my initial post. It’s an FH680v, vertical shaft.

From what I’ve read, my leak could be coming from the upper crank seal under the flywheel. Seems easy enough to replace.

For the record, my tankless on demand experience is on city water.

Intex pump should have a 2 year warranty & they are real good about their warranty, usually don't even require you return the old part.

    Goodmorning crew :pccoffee:
Yesterday was a busy day, call from hospital my former coworker needed a ride home. He fell in the night and fractured 5 ribs. Then I spent several hours there taking care of some things and ran a couple of errands for him. It's difficult to really feel bad for him in a way....alcohol :bananadead:
Kind of figure I'm one of the best friends or biggest A-hole....
    Morning meeting time.
    Have a great day all

To keep in line with the conversation, I have a Navien 240 something or other combi-boiler. Does our heat and hot water. We have well water, the dude who installed it put a descaler before it, just a small cartridge that helps stop minerals from building up. I change it out once/year.

I recently added an electronic descaler which I was 100% sure I'd send back and call it snake oil, but it actually appears to help a little- measured by how often I have to remove our aerators and soak them in vinegar. Used to be monthly, now every three months.

Our water is very, very hard. I haven't had to descale the heating tubes/exchanger yet and it's been installed an running for seven years.

Edit: I believe this is the one:

I think this one has a 1 year warranty. It was still working yesterday when I got home.

Imagine Koreans speaking only Korean who own this satellite being in a room with Germans speaking some broken english who are fueling this satellite together with myself and Spacex trying to all get on the same page about what is about to happen here. It's like a monkey humpin' a football.

They work amazingly well for the price. I've been using them for years on various things, including both my 1st gen Tacos. I'm no professional, so they are a good match for my skill level.
