I have the tank out to fix the frame. It was at least half full and I couldn't drive it to empty it more. Now trying to get the gas out and looks like there is a feature to block a hose going in on the fill neck. Can I remove the four screws on the round plate that has a vent tube to get a siphon tube in or do I need to remove the whole fuel pump assembly? Or is there another path?

You should be able to just remove the rubber hose.

I took the rubber fill neck off but there a valve of some sort inside the tank preventing the hose from going in.

the anti siphon valve to keep the fuel from leaking out when the truck is upside down

energize the fuel pump and pump it out.

The tank is out of the truck. I'm not messing with connecting the pump wiring, I'll remove the pump before that. Just looking for a been there/done that before I start removing crap.

After breaking far to many fuel pump brackets just be careful .

With the cost of fuel you don`t want to just drain and dispose.

    Good luck.

You'll have access to the gas once you remove those 4 screws and the breather valve underneath it. Here's what you'll see when you remove that:

I took a bunch of pictures when I did my gas tank replacement, you might find them helpful:

I'd suggest replacing the gas tank gaskets while you've got it dropped. I went through the hole for the rollover valve with an old homebrew siphon.. I got it all out, but it wasn't gasoline resistant and crumbled after siphoning, can't recommend that.

Excellent, thanks @CrustyTaco. Just the pics and info I was looking for. I may end up replacing the tank and a bunch of other stuff later but I want to get it on the road and make sure it's worth the investment. Every time I peel something back, it gets uglier.

I found a new tank at ROCK ninety days ago for $250 including tax and shipping, made by Doorman, not sure if that deal is still available, everything else I looked at were $100 more and up.
