Serpentine belt again

    I read a post about serpentine belts but cant find it now. Apparently Toyota does not sell there belts or I cant find them. What aftermarket belt is the best?

    Bando is the OEM manufacturer for Toyota tacoma serpentine belts. They use the same part number for the OEM and the aftermarket version they sell outside of the stealership. You can find it on rockauto and it is cheaper to get it outside the stealership.

    Strange... i just got a oem one at my dealership a hour ago. Double checked the part number when i got home and of coarse they gave me the 90916-A2037 (2015-2022.). For my 2007 should be
    $55 90916-A2001 Alternator and Fan Belt
    90916-A2001 (2005-2015.) They must of just got the belt in... has a date of 7/18/22 on the packaging. Called the parts dept... they have the 90916-A2001 in stock also.

    Yeah.. my dealership has the Bando's in stock now... said for a while they were having trouble getting them from the manufacturer.

    I replaced my original belt with another Bando thinking they were the same, they were not. The new one squeaked when cold right out of the box.

    Put a Gates belt on and no more noise

    I had just the opposite problem, I bought Gates because I bought the entire Gates tensioner and idler kit. The belt sucked and was replaced ASAP, skinnier than OEM and made noise. I only look for Bando with Japan markings since.

    Replaced my tensioner and Serpentine. Aftermarket belt, already making intermittent loud noise on first start in morning. Is the OEM belt really that much better, or maybe sized better? I’m gonna get one, just wanted your opinions. Thanks!

    I don’t know if it’s “that” much better than x other but I can say oem was my only consideration when I changed mine. I still had the original oem belt on and it was in excellent shape and not making any noise. Changed it out due to age. It is now a spare behind my seat. New belt hasn’t made a peep either.

    Edit: FYI I bought my oem belt from the dealer in august 2022. Not sure why people are having a hard time finding them. My dealer had lots in stock.

    Replaced my Serpentine with a Gates today (first time)...Procedure was just as our great forum posters have typed up.
    But, man the toughest part I believe was just getting into a stable position from top of engine.
    I did remove skid plate, but I really felt I couldn't get leverage for releasing tension on belt from underneath truck.
    Will it get easier or should I build some Engine Bay Scaffolding for these jobs?
    Oh Yeah, I have a quiet Taco again!
