I’m normally right with you but we will not be living here more than 2ish years.
Hang with my family until the second to last oldest nephew graduates HS then we’ll be across the country.

It sounds like an insane fee… until you do the math and figure out you’ve paid 2.5 years worth of fees already this year in maint. Then its not so bad.

btw they do have insurance policies for condos that do pay a large portion of assessments they throw at you without warning. Which I bet is why this place was high. They were playing catch up from previous mismanagement of funds.

Makes sense, I mean if your deck was rotting and you had to do it (as my friend is dealing with).

Yup the fee ain't great but that makes sense. My folks went through something like that at their townhouse..on their section (4-5 units) the one at the other end needed a roof, so the HOA did it and charged each unit the same portion. Good that my folks got a new roof, bad that it was only 10 years old and theirs didn't need it nor did they get the option of shopping the job as I did when mine needed it. But ultimately it's a trade off and one picks their poison.

Whats funny is AC was replaced in my Forester this week too. Bahahaha. Except that shit was recalled so fixed for free.

BTW do you guys here, especially if you have new model vehicles, get serious oil consumption between changes? My Forester (auto not manual) eats about half a quart every 3,000 miles. They stated it was in spec to lose up to a whole quart in essentially 4,800. So now I just pretend I have some old piece of shit and carry around oil in the car with me all the time for when the light goes off.

I know it's becoming more and more common with newer cars with thinner oils to meet MPG requirements by auto makers.

My 2002 Ford F250 with 200,000 miles didn't burn a god damn drop in 5,000. I do not miss 12 mpgs but I miss that truck.

Nope, I have my Tacoma and wife has a Legacy. No oil usage. One thing to consider trying is a bit thicker oil to see if that helps. Normally I would not suggest it, but one weight shouldn’t be an issue. You’ll know fairly quickly if it helps, if not, go back.

This is what I was going to consider doing and see if it helps. Its the thinner weight oils that are the issue.

Just need to watch out. Sometimes the engine uses oil pressure to activate valve timing so oil weight can affect that

Its probably not. I wouldn’t think it makes a big deal.

I’m sure some Subie owner has done it, I’ll see what their results were before I do it.

Closed on it. But not moving in until end of September. I’m actually gonna single dad it for 4-5 months thanks to the navy canceling their ‘early out’ programs. The wife is gonna have to stay up in VA until feb.

So training is taking a step back unfortunately and I’m also going to college for the first time in my life (online/night classes) to get a degree this fall too because I’m tired of welding.

so life is gonna get crazy for a while lol.

Sounds like you have a good go-forward plan no matter. Life tends to throw you curve balls occasionally just to let you know you are not in full control.

Yep. Those curve balls led me to where I am now.

    everything is hard.

working a dead end job is hard

    being broke is hard

    having regrets is hard

and going to school while having kids is hard

but atleast that last one will make life easier in the long run. the others just make it worse.

I was going to ask if she was staying in the service or getting out. Sucks about the early out. My mom got and early out of the Air Force in the 90's and is still getting that check.

I have not lifted in 4 months since my gym closed. I'm working so much it's hard to get in two workouts a day, and sorry when I get to chose lift or run 2 hours a day.... running wins erry time. I like my job, I like working, I like the over time pay, so working has taken the priority over lifting. Unfortunately I'm have no six pack any more but that's aight.

You can't do everything in your life 100%, you have to pick priorities. Nothing wrong with that. Do your best and forget the rest.

Seriously good luck with everything. Nothing in life worth having is easy, and when you have your priorities set and your head screwed on tight, every drop of blood, sweat, and tears to get where you need to be in life is worth it. If you keep your head down and hustle, one day you will look up and everything you ever worked for is here. And it happens sooner than you think. It doesn't happen as fast as you want it, but it happens sooner than you think.

Had that convo with my friend when she started back to college at age 24, she was bemoaning that she'd be 28 when she finished. I told her that she'll be 28 in 4 years anyway, so do you want to be doing the same thing or have a career instead of a job?

Exactly. I've had to make those choices as well and still do at times even at my age. Spread yourself too thin and you accomplish little if any of your list.
