Hi all, I lurk a lot but decided to share one thing I recently came across. A while back I was looking for an all in one key system for my 2002 Tacoma with the VIP OEM alarm system and only found some DIY options, but I recently found an eBay version that works like a charm. Construction is great, buttons are really nice to the press, flipping mechanism has awesome spring action and the Toyota symbol on the back looks fantastic. Looks and feels a lot better in person, I just ordered a second one for my spare key. Just need to go get my key cut now.

I used this video to program the fob: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qt8iJ8tDD8

    Just thought I'd share. Cheers!

Got the key cut today, works dandy! Range seems to be just as good as OEM.

How much it cost to get cut? Is there a certain amount of keys/fobs allowed per vehicle? I hate having the key and fob separate.

Do all these trucks 1st gen have a factory lock reciever?,because it would seem if they don’t that there was a factory option for an alarm.

Only 03-04 had an RS3200 from the factory. Pre-2003 were port or dealer installed. The 03-04 was basically a stripped down RS3200 alarm unit to be used only for keyless entry. You can unclip a wire to activate the alarm when doors are unlocked or jimmied without a key, and then add a glass break sensor quite easily as well. The module and wiring is already all set up for it. I did this with my 2004, it was very easy

We’ll that’s kinda a bummer for me I have a 00’ but I am luckily blessed to have a very nice alarm anyway. Always liked the Mercedes and VW switchblade keys, pretty unique.

Is this thread telling me, by default, my 2004 tacoma comes from the factory with the ability to use a remote key? I have been using a standard in the door key for years.

Generally, yes. The module is on the driver's side kick panel. Open it up. If you have it then you can program a fob and get keyless entry.
