    Howdy All,
This is my first post on TW, so go easy on me. Just picked up my white 22 TRD OR and am beginning my overland build process. I just installed my RCI full skids and my Avid Offroad sliders should be here any day now, which leads me to this post...what color should i paint them? the obvious answer is black, but i am almost considering switching it up and going red... How bad of an idea is this? Someone please talk me down from this post-purchase excitement newb idea.

    picture because...picture

Black. If you owned a jeep you could do red with the angry grill

First, welcome to Tacomaworld! Second, I was just thinking of repainting mine. I'm leaning towards the rustoleum spray on bed liner in black. I used it on my ditch light brackets and really like how they came out. Not really rough like rhino liner more of a sand paper kind of finish. I figure two or three coats should do it.

The thought had crossed my mind...but getting the match just right seems tricky, and likely to make crunch-ding-skrrrape marks stand out like a sore thumb.

Most people go black; but do whatever you'd like to do with your truck and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, unless you like to learn the hard way sometimes lol.

i am a sucker for learning things the hard way, and re-painting isn't a big deal. It'd be nice to add some touches that make it stand out from the 5.98 million other white tacos in AZ, but that ambition may lead to a goofy looking taco with red sliders. lol.

Black, had red skid plates, then blue on my white truck. Finally came to the realization that it looked dumb and painted them all black

Maybe somebody with Photoshop can come up with an idea of how it'll look. Some of these guys are pretty good at that.

I'd say paint em black, and put strips of red grip tape strategically where you'd step up (if you intend to use them as steps). If you don't like the look, just peel it off. Or better yet, find a good picture of a white truck with sliders and ask someone with photoshop (search "photoshop request" thread) to make them red. You'll know really quickly if you love or hate it.

Edit: beat me to it lol.

I would not paint them. It voids the warranty on the truck. o_O

Paint 'em white and give it a try. Worst case is that you don't like it and end up painting them again.
I think it would look good, but I'm also a guy who doesn't like my truck to look like every other Tacoma on the street and appreciates customization.

You could do an Ivan Stewart tribute and fade yellow to orange to red. :notsure:
