Your fun per mile will be much better with the SC and YotaWerx Tune. Yes premium gas costs more. I consider the additional cost per mile (delta on gas price per gallon, and reduced mpg) to be worth it. No way the NA will give you the SC performance and IMO a better option than selling and moving to a $60k Tundra.

I have a 2020, stock tires and gearing, AT. I had been running stock tune and premium 93 for about a year before the SC. I also never loaded the Maggy tune, so cannot compare. All at once I did URD Spec-U exhaust, Maggy SC, URD bigger radiator, GM variable speed electric fan with mechanical fan delete, and Lengenfelter fan controller with the sensor at the bottom of the radiator, so the fan only runs if 'Free Air' is not adequate. By my calculations, the fan delete with minimal running of the electric fan; should account for 1+mpg improvement.

My fuel economy is better than it was stock, by between 1 and 2 MPG. Sometimes it is unbelievably good. Without towing I am seeing 20+. I only have 2k mi since the upgrade, but the truck launches great, feels like a V8, and it seems to really like back roads (constantly varying betw 35 and 65). On one trip that was part 2 lane Highway and part divided highway, for the first half tank it read almost 24 avg, then I returned loaded, with some added wind drag, and that tank ended about 21.

Not certain, but I think hilly roads at above 75, reduces fuel economy considerably. I tend to watch the AFR, and see if dropping a gear runs leaner, but basically it seems the best economy is at 65 and less, but not impacted by spirited driving.

I do not think I ever saw 20 mpg stock with this truck, and I think it is because I am a spirited driver, which was brutal with the lame stock power. I still drive spirited, but now there is great throttle response, so now I am only at the floor for passing, and occasional from a stop, but usually not to the floor for starts; it just is not needed.

I am very happy with the YW tune, and the complete setup. Truck is now a pleasure to drive. Full disclosure: I do have a fitment issue with the Spec-U exhaust, still unresolved, but everything else is wonderful. Running YW Stryker wGearLock.

For the 4runner folks, bit of an update:

    https://www.4runners.com/threads/yo...lopment-and-feedback.21473/page-3#post-373934

There's a lot of additional tables available with the 2020+ 4R that we're taking advantage of, not to mention that a lot of the tables are not a perfect 1:1 translation from the 2010-19 set, and they don't behave entirely the same with the same or similar values, so we've been ensuring that the 2020+ tunes perform as they should/as we want them to rather than just throwing the tunes together and assuming all will be well.

I think the consensus (among those who've tried it) is that the Stryker tune is awesome in terms of drivability, performance, and really makes the most of the SC. I highly recommend it.

That said, if you're in a real financial bind, I'd recommend pulling the SC off and selling it. Even if you get 19 mpg with Stryker and SC (vs 14 mpg with current maggy tune) that will save you about 8 cents a mile (assuming $4.30 a gallon for premium in texas) and you'll need to drive 9000 miles before you've broken even on your $700 tune investment.

3GTacoma and 4Runner tune testing updates:

For the 4Runner folks, it's time to start building the tune packs for the 2020+ 4R.

2020+ 4R tune can be considered released.

    https://www.4runners.com/threads/yo...lopment-and-feedback.21473/page-3#post-374214

Tune testing/verification completed on a [my wife's] pretty much stock 2020 4wd 4Runner, other than her sliders, roof rack, ladder

    PXL_20210628_191531189.jpg

VFTuner software currently supports the following 2020+ 4R's:

    MY2020: 2wd, 4wd
    MY2021: 4wd
    MY2022: 4wd

If your vehicle is not in this list, please remain patient as the rest of the ECUs are expected to be added for support soon. In addition, if you have VFTuner or an OBD code reader (most OBD code reader devices are capable of identifying ECU info) and your truck is not in the above list, we would very much appreciate receiving confirmation of your ECU version. This will help us better assist people moving forward.

Please note that while the Limited trim traditionally is 4wd full-time, it usually has a separate ECU ID from the part-time 4wd trucks.

For the 3GTacoma MagSC folks who have been waiting for the 87mm pulley tune, Friday the 12th is the target date to wrap up dev/testing for that tune option.

Texas mud lol it's been washed

Although it was in Rhode Island from January to July while my wife was on a travel contract and that NE road salt did get to the sliders :( not badly, but...we know about it, in the spots it got through the powder coat...so it bothers us...

Pretty much some of the tougher to clean corners

Update on the Stryker 87mm pulley tune option:

For the time being, I have decided to shelve this project and probably revisit at a later date.

I continue to be unhappy with the stock fueling system and given how far we'd already pushed the 90mm setup, there's not much room left. We did manage to get the 87mm tune to the point where it runs pretty well, but with the fueling pushed as far as it is, there's still inconsistencies that crop up, and I have concerns about performance and safety in cold weather scenarios when under high load. In addition, the results obtained have increasingly become an exercise in simply getting the system to cooperate consistently enough to perform the way I would like it to without providing any particularly meaningful level of benefit beyond the already released Stryker 90mm pulley tune.

It is possible that with additional tuning tools coming from VFTuner, this project could be revived in the future, but at this time I am electing to withhold the originally planned widespread release of the 87mm pulley tune without fuel system modifications due to the unfortunate insufficiency of the stock fuel system.

Moving forward: YotaWerx is beginning Stryker tune dev utilizing the aftermarket fuel rails designed by @JamesT for both the 90mm and 87mm pulleys. In addition, we already have proof of concept on early testing with the prototype rails as we move into this project, which we're very excited about.

As a separate project for the Magnuson supercharger Stryker tune, we have been working with an individual to test a tune option for water-methanol injection, being run with the 87mm pulley and that is also going well.

As always, YotaWerx appreciates this community's support and patience, and while the above information may be disappointing to some we want to remind everyone that YotaWerx keeps your safety and the well-being of your vehicle in mind and we are not in the business of compromising that for the sake of saying we achieved something.

New batch of VFTuner remote kits ordered yesterday, so as soon as those arrive we can fulfill orders on those for those of you not near a YotaWerx networked tuner and/or preferring to tune your own truck and have your tune pack readily accessible.

1st post has finally been updated (sorry for my laziness on that) to reflect pricing on that option ($650 for 3GTacoma, with everything needed: VFTuner kit providing tactrix device and cable, and our tune pack along with our tune guide supplement documents).

??? for individuals who have the VFTuner Software and Device is it necessary for them to purchase the Kit you note - or just the Tune and flash with VFT as normal - asking for .....friends! And you list several prices for the Stryker on page one - ??
