Cheapest option for muffler?

Hey guys, my muffler is toast, extra burnt.
Section behind the muffler just about fell off a few months ago. Don't think this is repairable, so what are my options? Considering just straight piping it, but would like to at least look into some aftermarket mufflers maybe? I bought a walker system from advance.....rear muf and tail pipe was like $90....with discount...couple yr ago...tho...
and then the mid pipe to cat was about $70.

Ordered and paid on line to get the 20% discount.......it was a drop in fit for my year and model...hangers in right place...
still have to weld mid pipe to slip fit on front of muffler....



I would be a little concern about your leafs....when they get that rusted....they can snap.......

I just did a cheap glass pack and prebent tailpipe off of Amazon.

 

Ended up just cutting it off for now, sounds the same honestly

 

yeah they are also bent, going to have to look into replacing those

 

make sure to put a mask on it to stop the spread

 

its ok, sandblasted and painted it 2 years ago, going to spray the inside with woolwax soon

Dry climate here. Heh, my exhaust system looks almost new at 116k.

 

Yeah I do a $10 can of fluid film from wallyworld in the rails once a year....

starting getting little flash rust on my cheap wallker couple years in, so I just got some the high temp silver rattle can...lightly dusted it......looks good as new...

Only real rust was on end crimps and pipe welds, so zapped them pretty good.

 

You can get a oem replacement on Amazon for $40 or on Facebook marketplace for like 20 beans

 

How long have you had that rubber bungee cord on there? I'd be worried about that melting and/or catching fire.

 

It sounds the same because you had giant holes in your muffler.

^ This. At least put some exhaust insulation around the pipe before the bungee.

This doesn't have to be a hard or expensive fix. Just take it to a muffler shop and let them handle it.

 

I used a Thrush Turbo from autozone. $20.

 

You might be amazed at how different it could sound with an actual working muffler.

yeah think im going to get a thrush welded muffler tomorrow. from what ive heard they sound fantastic on the 3.4.
