I picked up a camper shell recently (check it out). I'm trying to rainproof it. It passes the garden hose test all around except in the back near the tailgate, and the tailgate itself has some gaps (see pic below).

Do y'all have any ideas for filling these gaps? The only thing I can think of is some adhesive weather-stripping, but I thought the friction from opening/closing the gate would rub that off pretty quick.

Maybe one of those weather stripping bars that go on the bottom of a door . Attached to the bed , I think it would hold up.Home depot has an assortment of sizes....

Pita might work. Although it could get a bit soggy in the rain, and I'm trying to watch my carbs.

Looks like you have a 1st gen. I'd use this one around the tailgate like I had on my 2003. Mounted to the bed (not the tailgate) in a widened U shape.

It's a bit hard to see, but this is the best photo I still have of the truck. You can see that across the bottom of the bed, the seal needs to sit a bit lower as when you close the tailgate it pushes it down.
