I’m having trouble with CarPlay and my iPhone 13. The iPhone has the latest operating system and the 2022 Tacoma was new last February. I purchased and downloaded a number of songs via iTunes and put them on my iPhone. I can connect to CarPlay via an Apple USB cable or via Bluetooth with no problem. The problem is that many of the songs will not play. Some of them simply do not play and the screen reads “Not playing”. Some songs start to play for 1-2 seconds and jump back to the start of the song, play for 1-2 seconds, and jump back to the start again. Some songs play just fine. All the songs play just fine through the phone by itself.
    Any ideas?

Sorry! I do not have experience with AA or CP. But, it is good to check if the latest FW is installed. See this thread:

    Oh look, another mod....

Here's a few things you can do to isolate what the actual issue is:

    1) Try another iPhone with the same songs on it.
    2) Try an Android phone with the same songs on it.
    3) Put the songs on a thumb drive and try to play it that way. (I have a 16gig USB drive plugged into truck and it plays all my songs that way)..
    4) Make sure you have the latest Entune an iOS version.
    5) Try your iPhone in another vehicle.

I think that Tacoma's hate iPhones. I say this because this site and others like it are littered with issues with Apple Car Play, iPhone Max11/12/13 and wireless/bluetooth. I never hear about Android users having issues like this.

I have a 13 pro max. No issues with my 21 tundra Pro and no issues with my 22 Camry XSE. Both have Apple car play. My Camry I just sit my phone on the charger and run it thru the blue tooth. No issues with my Apple Music.

CarPlay is trash. I’ve seen a lot of issues since the most recent update to my phone. Last week got in the truck and the phone kept disconnecting from carplay and reverting back to Bluetooth connection. The volume will get really quiet at times, believe it may be a bug with Waze. Activating Siri and then clicking hang up usually resolves it but every now again it comes back very quickly.

All that said, a couple of other things you could try.
    1) download the songs to your device so you eliminate any potential data availability issues
    2) hard reset the iPhone. On a newer on it’s usually click volume up, volume down, then hold the big button on right for 10-20 seconds or so. You should see the Apple logo and then you can let go of it.

I don’t believe it’s the Tacoma. Just my opinion. I also had a 2020 4RunnerPro and no issues either. So out of the 3 Toyotas no issues with my iPhone 13 pro max. I also had a 7plus with the 4runner Pro. I think when people are having issues it’s something with the phone. Also with my 22 Camry I can use it both ways. Plug it in for Apple car play or just for my music on the charger thru the Bluetooth.

This is for all Bluetooth concerns, it’s not a CarPlay issue. Whenever the software in your phone is updated or the rare occurrence the software for the headunit is updated the phone needs to be deleted from the Bluetooth menu and the car from the phones and re-paired. Also if you upload your address book to the car if you have any emojis in any of your contacts names it will screw up the Bluetooth as most cars don’t recognize emojis.

Yep, I also have the same problem even without CarPlay and just selecting USB or Bluetooth as the source.
