I wouldn't mind ditching them, but I'm afraid the wires will overheat and burn due to contact with engine. What are my options?

Pic just shows one crack. There's morr.

You can wrap them with special tape from 3M, use some of those little P-shaped clamps to secure them to the engine, and toss the plastic shit. There is a write-up on this forum showing the parts required and how to do it. You should find what you're looking for if you search within the last 3 years. Sorry I can't provide you with the link...

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
You can replace with split loom makes it easy to remove as needed.

If your engine is getting hot enough to burn wire insulation any place but the exhaust manifolds you have some real problems.

If you tape up with electrical tape get the professional grade electrical tape, I did mine 15 years ago and tape is still fine. Its good to 225F. The budget tape is useless, will come off right away.

I did a major repair on my engine recently and had to replace lots of the OE tape that was falling off on various places so good to have on hand.

    I'm thinking of using 3M Super 88.

Did you also replace with plastic housing with anything, or was just electrical tape good enough even though it makes contact with engine?

Tesa tape is designed for extreme heat and is perfect for it and you can wrap in the plastic tube protector too.

There are different Tesa tapes available,
Word of caution I bought a roll off eBay and it was a fake roll and the tape a month later all came apart from the poor sticky compound and Inhad to redo everything.

Yes, I used Scotch but same specs. With this tape, if you tape it to itself you aint getting it off without cutting it. That plastic is really to protect the wire from abrasion so fine to leave it

I left the housing on, wrapped tape around entire housing to keep any cracked pieces from coming loose. Trust me every Tacoma has cracked plastic after just 6 years or so. The housing is not super critical, just for abrasion resistance and it does not matter if its secured to the intake either IMO. If your housing is so bad that its crumbling then you could get rid of the plastic housing and get some split wire loom tubing + tape or follow other recos here. Main thing is to not have any wires exposed where they could rub on metal.

Only thing that is really effective at reflecting heat is foil. There is a foil product for wrapping wires but way overkill for this application. Toyota actually did put some foil in the harness where it comes near the drivers side exhaust mani...
