Hey all, considering driving a few hours to pick up a shell. Seller doesn’t know much about it. Says it came off a ‘13 DCSB. I’ve got a ‘15 so I assume the silver won’t match perfectly but I’m mostly concerned about the fit. Does this look like its a bit small for the bed rails?

That does seem narrow and the contour on the rear corner isn't correct. I've never seen a cap sit like that on a Tacoma.

It will fit on your '15 like it fits on his '13... My bed cover frame looks similar even though it says it is for model year '15. Functionally it should work unless you have OCD about it

Not too worried about the optics, I just know it can be tricky to get these sealed up so I don't want to start with too much of a challenge. Curious if there are any V owners who can confirm this looks right.

I’ve got the same on my truck. Looks about right. Mine leaks a little but I’ve never actually tried to get it water tight.

EDIT - does look like the guy could slide the thing forward more to get a better fit though. tough to tell with the pictures provided. That drivers side looks too far out.

The same shit everyone else has.
Might be a first gen shell?

They are narrower than second gens.

Definitely an ARE V series. That specific model doesn't wrap over the bed rails like most. I strongly considered the V-series because it and the Snugtop Rebel are the only 2nd Gen Caps that still offer vented windoors for short beds. Just depends on whether the rails showing would bother you.

Ask the seller to send you a pic of the serial code tag from the ceiling. It should have the Year, type, and color code.

Here's another thread that shows the fitment https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/a-r-e-v-series-cap.55289/#post-999038

Camper shells are supposed to fit OVER the bed rails to look good, blend with the truck, and keep water out. It also functions to orient them to sit properly and secured to the bed.
