Who knows what’s compatible with the 2001 S Runner. The rear end blew and needs to be replaced. Can I re build it? Doesn’t it have a specific gear ratio? My boyfriend died and I inherited the truck. I’m Christin I’m in San Jose California.
    Thanks in advance.

What ever route you take do not change out the rear axle housing. S-Runner rear axle housings are unique, they have S-Runner only rear sway bar mounts.
No other 1st gen Tacoma rear axles have those. You could probably determine what the ratio is is by using the VIN at a dealer and/or online.

I've done a mod or two
It's got the 8.4 that the base 6 lug trucks came with in the rear. You should have no problem finding parts for it.
