My 2016 runs fine but I am not sure about how the ADD functions as opposed to the transfer case. When you engage to 4WD Hi what exactly is going on in the front diff ? I assume the actuator on the transfer case has to engage to front driveshaft for 4WD? I also assume that same actuator is involved in achieving LOW range? So the transfer case actuator has 2 functions? Am I correct the front driveshaft does not rotate when in 2WD? If there is an article that explains this for which there is a link I would appreciate it. My previous Tacoma was a Gen 2 with manual locking hubs and manual transfer case and 4WD levers. Thanks

Most, including Toyota specialists, think it's a waste of $$$, but I'd say why not, you will only need to do transfer case fluid probably 3 times in your ownership, that's not a huge fortune being saved going aftermarket 75W-90

MALATX, I just watched the Utube demo. Awesome explanation. Setting up that test rig and cutting access holes in the cases, enables seeing exactly what is moving and how it works. That is an expensive setup. Must be used for training technicians. Thanks a bunch.
