okay. Expensive. Getting power to is turning into a really PITA and very pricy. So is water.

But plumbing is all but done. HVAC is almost done. Cabinets hopefully be done designed soon.

But yeah things are getting pricey. Had hoped we could move in late Nov/early Dec. But idk about that now.

Nope all buried. I have to buy the transformer though which is 5k alone. And then I guess they had site already predetermined for them to go which I didn't know. Closest one to the house is 390' away..So cable to avoid voltage drop is 4k for that or so. Gonna probably cost clost to 18k out the door alone for it. Frustrating as when I was in process of buying the land i called the electric company that services here and they told me itd be about 7500. More than double now..

Yeah that's about what they charge here to put in a pole. 18k would buy you some solar panels. Prob another 20k for battery storage though.

yeah looked into it and generator. Which I would like as power does go down where I'm at. Had planned on solar at some point, more specifically on the shop when(and now if even cause $$$) it got built. The 30-40% tax break/refund on solar is helpful.

but yeah, everything in that world is 10k. 10k for panels, 10k for the controller auto switcher, 10k for the batteries, 10k for the generator...lol Freakin annoying.

Yeah there isn't much that isn't pricey these days. We are going to do solar at some point but want to remodel/add on first. Doesn't make sense without a way to store the energy imo. Think we maybe spend $100/ month on electric. Take a long time to recoup that cost.

Yeah everything is. Like the worst time to be building honestly. Oh well. Can't wait to live there.

Nice what do you want to redo?

We are around 100 a month right now for gas and electric. Pretty low for sure. But new place has a different electric provider and I've heard they are more expensive. Honestly more about having backup power(batteries) then anything. But if you have a decent sized array you could basically break even or make 50-100 a month pretty easily with the right system. Certainly doesn't pay for itself fast but is nice to net zero electric wise.

Do they just credit your account or will they actually send you a check for the excess power you put into the grid?

It's time for an exterior update, which opens the door to rethinking window sizes/placement, potentially adding a garage off the back and coverting the current garage to more livable space. Many ideas really, just waiting to think it all through before doing it.

no active ones far as i know. But sure there has to be somewhere.

Both I think. It depends on your provider. Mine credits the acount then pays out every quarter I think if you have a pay out.

Nice. We put a ton of windows in ours but I wish I'd done the wider ones. ours are 3x5s so love the height. But would have done the 42''x60'' in retro spec. Not a bit deal though. But i'd imagine adding/modifying windows is very spendy no matter what. Fun to think about that stuff though.

    Also hows the kid?

Yeah it's fun to think about, but it always seems to reach a point of "well if we're going that far then maybe we should think about..." it's a neverending cycle so far lol.
Kid is good, cruising around babbling, always getting into things he shouldn't. Lots of fun coupled with lots of work.
How's life at Tippet going? You guys busy?

Blah, I'm more annoyed than I should be by that. Amazon has a set of 4 for $70 at least.
Right!? Reservoir lake makes no sense, is it a reservoir or a lake!?

If there was ever a road sign that was worth stealing, that would be it.
Way cooler than the cliche garage road sign with the same first or last name as you.
