Western Big Game - Caliber Choice?

You can hit anything when you have an entire regiment in a trench send a volley out 2000m to the enemy outpost. You by yourself? Not likely.

 

No longer needed or relevant since moving to Seattle

 

Seattle is still in the western US. So it would be relevant, but Ive decided to pursue much more dangerous game.

Some might even say "The Most Dangerous Game"

My first deer hunting rifle that I purchased on my own was a Savage 110 in 30-06. I went with this round because at the time I knew I could go into any sporting goods store, anywhere in the USA and they would have 30-06 ammo in stock. I purchased it at a gun show in Lafayette La, in the early 80's for about $180.00 dollars. I sold it later to a really good friend, but replaced it later with a Marlin MR-7 in the same caliber. That was a fine rifle that now lives with my new son in law. My favorite all time deer cartridge is the 300 savage. I have a Remington model 722 in 300 savage, but alas, I'm unable to shoot any 30 calibers at this time. I think this one will go to one of my Nephews.
