What shop do you trust NY

Hey what shop does everyone trust in the Capital Region of New York? I used to work at a Goodyear Gemini so I always went there but the staff has turned over twice and I no longer know anyone so looking for a new shop. Thanks for the help.

 

What kind of shop are we talking? General tires and oil changes or upgrades?

 

For fluid changes and routine maintenance? Myself.

For inspections? dealership or jiffylube, bring a torque wrench so you can make sure your wheel isn't over-torqued or ready to fall off.

For dealership services like TSBs, recalls, etc...? No idea, Northway toyota was always a shitshow and after a terrible experience, I never went back. Lia toyota used to be great and fast, even if they were swamped. However, now all the idiots from northway work at Lia, and the service department is nosediving hard right now. I have an appointment with New country toyota in clifton park on monday and will report back.

For a good and honest mechanic, which it has been a while since I brought my vehicles to a small shop for anything, Park Auto in clifton park used to be good, not sure about now. I have heard good things about broadway auto clinic in menands and colonie garage in colonie, but again, that was years ago so who knows how it is now.

 

For dealer I recommend Romeo Toyota in glens falls, they have been great to deal with for me at least and others I’ve talked to. Now I know it’s a bit North for you so it may be too far, as far as little shops by you I don’t know I’m sorry. But I’d like to know too for when I upgrade my suspension.

My parents tried to buy a 4Runner from Northway Toyota and they weren’t helpful or knowledgeable in any way, they have on on reserve from Romeo now.

 

To get a lift kit installed or any other mods

 

locally I know of 0. I am doing my research, as of now the best one I’ve found is out by Utica. They are Explore Overland and they specialize in Toyota. I bet it’s worth the drive.

 

Capital District Truck Center comes to mind for a lift. They are right on state street in schenectady. Watkins spring in albany for the alignment afterwards.

there is also 4xHeaven in gloversville.

"Other mods" can mean a lot of things, best to research it on a case by case basis. Capital Region Customs does great work.

Romeo is the better dealership, with a good shop. Northway is troubling. Kinderhook doesn’t have a great service dept. Chuck at Claverack Service Station in Claverack, NY is awesome. He and his son are wicked smart, and very reasonable. His son is deep in the overland mods, and Chuck is one of the most solid mechanics I’ve come across up here. He knows his stuff.

 

I just wanted to jump in here and thank marlow_tacoma for recommending Claverack Service Station. He helped me get new tires, wheels and suspension for my '04, and it was an incredible experience. Chuck is super knowledgeable and I'll be going back whenever I need anything done.

 

I have been using Redlyne on 9H in Ghent for about 5-6 years. Just up the road from Claverack . Very knowledgeable and very honest. Everything from lift install ,tires and wheels ,body work and general maintenance.
