I've been there. One of the most desolate places I've ever seen. Did you continue east across the park? Cathedral Valley? Or north to I-70?

Drove the loop stopping at all the overlooks, lunch at the Cathedral Valley campground. Visited the Morrel cabin, gypsum sinkhole and Temples of Sun and Moon. Got caught in a rainstorm and a flash flood. It was an amazing and exciting day!

Sounds wonderful... I love rain and sudden flooding in the desert as long as I'm prepared and avoid being in the bottom of a creek.

It was insanely beautiful with the clouds and lightning and we managed to not damage anything more than a skidplate trying to get to a safe place. Having never witnessed a flash flood it was definitely an experience!

A few more photos from my trip. First up is the Anaconda Smelter Stack, 585 ft. tall, finished in 1918. Check out the snake petroglyphs in the background of the second photo....And I was nervous taking the last photo as that boulder sure looked to be ready to fall!Anaconda Smelter Stack 1.jpg Snake Glyphs.jpg Balanced Rock.jpg

I hope you got to enjoy 9 Mile, that place is unreal. Lots more leaves on the trees than when I was through in April! I bet all that green made it even more magical.

Mall Crawling can be brutal. Keep it under 25 MPH when you hit those speed bumps!

Hitch mounted. It was an impulse buy on Amazon a few years ago. Went unused forever, now I use it all the time.

Does that hitch mounted umbrella holder stick out far enough to allow the tailgate to drop? Do you recommend this genius piece of overland equipment?

Way nicer than the one I posted. Seems like this would be an easy enough garage fab. I sense a new project.
