    So, maybe one more question. About what is the gap between the DB clamp and the edge of the rail? The brackets I'm thinking about using are 1/4" thick.

    I'm not sure which gap, in particular, you are interested in. So, I took a few measurements. Also, the threaded studs are indeed on an angle. That is not an optical illusion.

    This week I am picking up an older generation Diamondback cover for a good deal. I'll need to order new locks since the previous owner misplaced the keys, but not a huge deal since lock replacement doesn't look too difficult. If I have bed rails, do I still need the lock rod striker brackets or will the locking rods fit directly into the bed rails when the cover is locked?

    I believe you'll need the brackets if they are what I think you're referring to. The cover opening at the tailgate locks shut with those brackets while the cover toward the bulkhead locks into the bed rails.

    Here is a photo I took a while back after installing bed stiffeners. The brackets can be seen in the image. I've got a short bed.

    @wake100

    This install says it's an SE and it has the brackets. Either way, they lock into place.

    Maybe...those long beds are peculiar. lol

    Don't be offended...I'm just having a bit of fun with comparison.

    Mine was a short bed and I had the brackets for mine, I probably could have aligned it with the rail, but it came with the brackets so that’s what I used

    edit: SE Diamondback Cover

    This might be a silly question. But can the SE support an RTT?

    The SE has a load bearing capacity of 400 lbs. You can probably do the checks to see if it can? My gut feeling, without the math, says yes for only the RTT but add one or two people then probably not.

    I just ordered the switchback for my 2019 shortbed Tacoma. Is there anything I should buy before it gets here (particularly weather stripping, silicone, etc)? Thanks
