Thought this forum could use a place to talk cutters, work holding, feeds and speeds. Milling, turning, manual, cnc... Post your cool part, your cam question... whatever!

Here's the latest thing I made... a light bar mount. And my first try at tabbing a part on the cnc. Some issues, but usable:IMG_9720.HEIC.jpg

Perfect timing, just ordered a hobby-grade CNC router yesterday. :)

I have seen folks making pretty insane stuff on small cnc routers - one of the NYCCNC/provencut guys was making full 3D contoured radiator manifolds! LOL.

Not to derail, but you might find comfort in this thread. For all your machining warm and fuzzies with a dash of BS and a smattering of off-topics.

I got these made at SendCutSend and then countersunk them on the ol' drill press. I think this is going to look super clean when (if) I get it done!

    Very nice.

I need to design some new spring mounting plates, with provisions for bump stops and air bags. I know what I want to do - it's just a matter of doing it. Then sending off to SendCutSend.

Here is the product of my first mill project. I did this a couple of years ago.

It is a Dorman hub, that I needed to trim to fit in 2x2 tubing, for my spare tire carrier.

And no, I didn't need the precision of the mill, but it was a learning experience/project. And the fit was really nice.

I remember that part! I have yet to finish my spare carrier. Ha ha. It's been on the back burner. But that is a very cool part.

For CAD and CAM combined, I really like Fusion 360. I'm not sure if you can still get a free license, but for the money it is an awfully capable piece of software. I don't think there's anything that gets close for the $. Solidworks, Creo maintenance is more than the fusion subscription, last time I checked. Plus there is TONS of great content on learning it - check out NYCCNC, in particular.

Did we talk, several years ago, on (your ?) thread about rear bumpers, swingouts and what not?

Supposed to show up today but I'm skeptical and suspect it may be delayed a day. Hopefully it comes before the weekend though so I can start figuring it out.
