Bed mat is installed but when I gotta climb into the bed that hard plastic tailgate protector is a biatch! Anybody have a solid rec-o for a knee friendly mod?

You could replace it with something like this...

I have thought about one... but haven't done it yet..

I never mentioned putting the one or two currently in your hands down, I was talking about the NEXT beer readily available for quick deployment

You could just step right up on the tailgate and into the bed, no kneeling needed. :notsure:

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
This, or a piece of barn floor mat.
I prefer the convoluted surface for a work surface. Places to stash parts that would roll off a smooth, flat surface.
Of course my knees hate it. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a cap cuz I could just follow @shakerhood's lead.

I am about 5'-10", not too difficult to step up on the tailgate.

I use a 1 step stool when washing my truck. The 1 step allows me to step on to the tailgate. They make them with 2 or 3 steps if needed.

We all aren’t 30 years old anymore, lol. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I wouldn’t be able to continue doing what I was doing for the first 40 years.

    I drive a Miata.
I'm old enough to be stubborn in my ways and still way too young to admit defeat to a little bit of knee pain.

So I grit my teeth and deal with the stock tailgate, and pretend that it doesn't bother me.
