Didn't mean running the pump continuously, I would still toggle on/off when needed. Just meant installing the battery portion in a permanent location and permanent wiring. So you never had to access or move it or remember to charge it.

Not an off-the-shelf solution but there's room enough for at least a 13 gallon tank under the bed, if you run low profile muffler. Above the exhaust, not in the spare location. (At least for access cabs).

I did that with my truck, with a water pump and an engine heat exchanger for hot showers at camp. Takes up no cargo space and is always ready to go. Spare is still under the truck.

    Wrote it up here

Nah, it's one of those systems where the rechargeable battery is also the pump switch, and the charging terminal is the same as what runs to the pump.

You'd probably figure something out though, and it's only $40 at the end of the day!

I have 2 (one on each side) home built pressure tanks 4.5 gallons each. They attach under my crossbars.

I also carry 16 (4x4 gallons) gallons of potable water on my cab rack. (Pressure tanks not in this pic because I built them on this trip)

I have a Coleman H2oasis instant hot water heater that I use as a pump and water heater. I have learned to recycle to hot water in a 5 gallon bucket by putting both the pump and sprayer in the bucket of cold water until it heats to maximum. Then I use just the pump to draw the hot water into a collapsible bucket

I remember when these came out and I was thinking A) will the cable support the weight and B) who the heck wants to deal with that obnoxious spare mount? I understand wanting to get the weight as low as possible but I have zero desire to deal with getting a grime and dirt covered tank out from under my truck. The only thing I could see them being useful for would be as emergency water if you were crossing a larger desert than we have CONUS or if you had a radiator that you didn't trust and wanted spare water on hand. I'll stick with the convenience of water cans elsewhere on or in my truck.

You can buy water tanks in any size and shape.

    I have a 22 gallon tank that's about 1' x 1' x 3-1/2', I installed it crosswise in the front of the bed with a 12vdc on-demand pump.
