2006 fuel pressure check

I have 2006 Tacoma v6, can anyone show me location of fuel valve and step by step how to check fuel pressure. Thank you so much.

There isn’t a fuel tap.
You have to T in to the existing lines.

I’ll see if I can find a diagram. It’s floating around here somewhere

 

You have to tee in a test adapter here to check pressure.
Fuel pressure should be about 41 psi with the engine running and not drop significantly under load.
Engine off it should not drop under 21 psi for at least 5 minutes after the engine is turned off.


You will need something like this.

Dm93, is the attached picture belonging to 2006 4.0 L Tacoma? Is it on driver side?

 

It's on my 14 but 2nd gens are all in the same spot, yes it's on the drivers side near the brake booster.

 

Thanks. I have just ordered Betooll kit and will keep you updated. I will also snapshot the fuel pressure regulator to confirm as if I think it is.

 

Fuel Flow:

Tank >> Filter >> Pump >> Fuel delivery tubing >> Fuel Rail >> Fuel Rail Regulator ( Set to ~ 40 - 41.7 PSI) >> Return to tank.

OP, If you follow thru on this using the Betooll product I hope you will do a DIY with pics if possible. Do not take deadhead pressures thinking that they may represent the actual fuel pressures. They do not and will tend to send you on wild goose chases. Good luck

 

Hi all,
Got the Betooll today. I did the T to the fuel line it read 26 psi, I know it's way too too low, I step on the gas pedal pressure gauge stays the same then it lower just a little once gas pedal released. Turned off the engine. Check the T connection I see a bit of gas leaked at Betooll end. Got it corrected

Tried second time the pressure was read 20 psi, stepped on the gas it jumped to 25 psi then come back down to 20 once gas released but as soon as I stepped on the gas I heard a short burst of air blowing and engine hesitating. Turn off the car. The gauge pressure still read 20 psi. Come back about an hour it dropped to 15 psi.
I am thinking short burst of air that is telling me the vacuum line open somewhere.
I am wondering 2006 Tacoma has a fuel pressure regulator outside fuel tank? So I can check for vacuum line at fpr.
In attached picture Is it the return fuel line?

Left is feed, right return. Test the left one.

If I recall, the FPR vacuum line connects to the far back of the air cleaner box.

 

Yes the regulator is on the rail, the regulator increases pressure as vacuum decreases so I wouldn't suspect a broken vacuum line.
The slight increase in pressure is likely the fuel pump going to high speed when you rev the truck.

 

Just a note if you want to verify the regulator isn't the culprit you can pop off the return line and put it in a bottle, if it isn't returning any or very little fuel your regulator is fine and you most likely have a failing fuel pump.
