Wanted to do the Lexus Big brake upgrade, but might have to sacrifice a new set of pads in the meantime since I don't have the time.

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.

I just swapped mine out last month, easy job and takes about an hour to do with a jack and simple tools.

My truck has 70k miles on it.

Pads are pretty cheap. Better to be safe instead of pushing it just to save a few bucks holding off before doing the upgrade.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Just did mine this weekend. Stock pads and rotors at 81k we’re good and could have made it to 100k. Drums are still very good.

What rotors and pads is everyone buying? Mine have been warped since like day one and I've been meaning to swap them out.

I'm sure there's a thread on this, do you have a link by chance? Would like to read more about it.

A Google search with "Lexus Big brake upgrade for third gen tacoma" nets me all the usual suspects with Stoptech, Powerbrake, Wilwood, which are all $2k+

My OEM front rotors had a vibration, so I went with Power Stop. Very happy with them.

Its actually posted in the 2nd Gen forum. I did it on my 09 and went from OE WG calipers to the bigger WH calipers and 338 mm rotors. Since the 3rd gen uses the same setup Im going with it again

Wow good stuff. So you can confirm that the 4-runner dust cover you mentioned in that post will also fit the third gens?

I can only assume they do. I am going this route and will report back when I get them ordered/ installed. I noticed a definite improvement in braking on my 09, and not just because they were new.

Had the dealership do my front pads (first time and only brake work) and resurface rotors last year when I had my frame replaced at 158k. Rear drums were at 50% so didn't touch them.
