I don't entirely agree with this, simply because so many guns are overpriced. Example: Aimpoints, ACOGs, and Vortex Razors are excellent optics, but they're all considerably cheaper than a complete Daniel Defense rifle.

its a rule of thumb, but even so, over priced is your opinion. The caliber of people buying Daniel defense, LMT, BCM etc for the reliability are also not on TW wondering which $200 China optic to buy…

…you can agree or disagree… but it is what it is.

Overpriced was probably the wrong word, but my point is that that rule of thumb doesn't really ring true for lower-powered optics and higher-priced ARs.

    On the way:

    • Allen Engineering AEM5
    • old school Pelican 1700
    • Eagle NSN Sling
    • 22c-30 cleaning rod
    • Otis NSN marked kit cleaning kit

Only thing not perfect will be:

    • The foam for now. Going with Cobra foam until another run of legit foam comes up
    • Butt plate sling adapter. Blue force gear until I can come across a Eagle Industries one
    • Bore guide. Using a ProShot precision one. I've been told Modern Arms Resources would do another run if he can get 150 units spoken for. It has to be worth the machinist time and his.

    Currently have:

    • 3 USGI dated 2013 Colt 20 round mags
    • Modern Arms Resources Mk12 Mod 1 NSW paperwork
    • Mil Dot Master with fishing line and weight

    Many & varied
I've read this many times in many places. I've A/B tested numerous holographic Eotech (512, XPS2, EXPS-2) and non-holographic Holosun (515, 510, AEMS, 507C, 507K) models with my bad double astigmatism. Time after time the Eotechs looked gritty & grainy while the Holosuns managed to be both crisp & smooth to my bad eyes. They're not perfect but based on my experience, they're the best I've found thus far.

Funny thing, the Eotech illuminated reticle scopes (SR-1) work great with my eyes. It's just the small carbine units that don't work with my eyes.

In the end, this is anecdotal, because the majority of folks swear by Eotech.

Magnification has nothing to do with the quality.
It’s a decent rule of thumb. You already have a decent list. A vortex razor after you buy the optic and a big boy mount will run you in the neighborhood of $1500 or more…
Most of these guys have aero precisions or things like it….again, this isn’t the DD, BCM etc crowd…

To be fair, I have perfect vision, and the donut on the Eotech sometimes looks gritty to me too.

What I meant by that is that lower-powered quality optics are (generally) going to cost less than higher-powered quality ones. (eg: A 1-6x SFP Vortex Razor costs less than a 1-10x FFP) Anyway, it doesn't really matter. If you're talking specifically about cheaper rifles, than, yes, I agree.

Finally had some time, so spent a bit in the garage assembling some uppers. Gave me a chance to see what parts i still need to order to finish them up.

seems that half the folks I. Here don’t understand what a holographic sight is versus a red dot.

    personally is
This hits very close to home. Oregon is poised to barely pass a really crappy ballot measure that includes a 10 round capacity limit.

I’ve been shopping for what I want/need and it looks like I’ll be spending about $1k on magazines this month.

The silver lining is that the recent Bruen ruling basically nullified the majority of these gun restrictions throughout the U.S. Most of the current challenges to AWBs, mag limits, NFA laws, CCW permits, etc. got sent back down to the lower courts to revisit them now that the 2-step approach to gun restrictions has been ruled unconstitutional, so a few of these laws are already getting struck down.

Yeah that is what I’m ultimately hoping for but it’ll take time. I’m still gonna stock up on mags (including for a few for guns I don’t have yet) just to be safe. Worst case I’m set for life.

It’s also hopeful that they haven’t even called the result yet but some of the local sheriffs are pledging to not enforce if it passes.
