So a couple months ago my rear diff failed. While diagnosing what was up I put my locker in, but it was unable to disengage. Figured it was something to do with the jacked up (broken) rear-end. Here we are awhile down the road (after having diff fixed up). This weekend I put the diff lock in, but again it will not disengage.

I can hear the motor/actuator turning, but it seems to either not go far enough, or I think their might be a spring in it that keeps it from damaging itself if stuff can't move (assuming here on this part).

I've ordered the Rebuild kit for the actuator and plan to pull it in a couple weeks when I get back from vacation and see how that goes. I rarely use the locker, and the truck is 11 years old. I have always made sure to run my 4wd every once in awhile, but never take the time to regularly engage the locker to keep it moving freely.

If that doesn't help, any other thoughts?

    More Info:
When the third member was out, I could slide the locker pretty easily by hand. With third member in, it was a bit difficult to move the locker via screwdriver method. And finally, I do believe I unlocked the locker BEFORE installing the actuator (with actuator in the unlocked position). I've heard that might have been incorrect and I should have installed the actuator in the locked position, with the locker engaged. Could that be part of my issue?

Any advice could be helpful. Thanks all!

After they rebuilt my 09 3rd member and reinstalled the locker was also "stuck" on/engaged and shop said they put the locker mech in before the axles and that was why. Pulled it out and set rack in place and reinstalled all worked correctly.

Anyone out there have the correct locker reinstall sequence or description and any pics to help?
