Hey friends, a few months ago I traded in my 2014 Tacoma for a 2016 limited Tacoma. It was love at first sight and then.... when I got inside it had / has an odor from the previous owner who smoked cigarettes. The dealer put some sort of air freshener to rid the odor but it still smells. As a non-smoker the odor is bothersome but I bought the truck anyway hoping and thinking the air freshener would clean up the air. NOT. Does anyone know of a product that will really work to rid the smell of cigarette from the cab? This beauty is practically new, only has 25800 miles on it but the smell might cause me to get rid of it unless I can cure the air. Your comments / suggestions are welcomed but please no haters.

An ozone machine combined with a thorough shampooing of the seats and carpet and the rest of the interior cleaning is very effective. Definitely replace your cabin air filter as well. Animal and cigarette odor can be difficult to remove completely without deep cleaning. Other things can cover it up but won’t really remove it.

I was in the same boat with my last truck before it got totaled. I tried a lot of different things... baking soda, ozium spray, febreze, cleaning every surface multiple times, cleaning the headliner but nothing seemed to do the trick effectively. There were some cigarette burns in the seats so I just bit the bullet and paid to have Katzkin leather installed which did the trick. Here's a link to another thread discussing the same thing. Good luck!

I would start with an ozone bomb and leaving the windows cracked when the weather is nice. Especially because you have rain gaurds.

If you park inside a garage, windows down all the time.

Yup on ozone machine, After that you MIGHT get away with air fresheners and filter changes, there is a good change it will smell for the rest of time though.

As a former smoker the headliner probably collects the most smoke especially around the front seats. Steam clean and ozone. Good luck ciggie smoke is gnarly.

In what year will the "Weed Odor in my truck" plot intersect and surpass that common issue?

Weed smoke doesn’t stick like cigarettes. Also shouldn’t be smokin weed and drivin, although I know people do.
