So I managed to bust the ECGS tool trying to remove the needle bearing. Trying to find a bearing puller in COS that will work - Autozone didn’t have anything, they said to check harbor freight.

Not sure if this set will work. Any help is appreciated

    I Don't think a 3 jaw puller will work.

You will have better luck trying a blind hole puller like this: But even then, the needle bearing is tricky because there is barely room behind it to get something in and grab the lip of the bearing.

If it were me I would weld that ECGS tool back together or make an entirely new piece

Stuff a rag in the hole so shards don’t fall in the Diff. How handy are you. Improvised tool may work. Otherwise order a new one from ECGS.

Ended up ordering this on next day delivery last night because I saw someone on here was able to do it with this kit. Still isn’t here today so I’ll probably get to it on Friday morning at this point.

8MILELAKE Blind Inner Bearing Puller, Hole Remover Extractor Set, 16pcs Blind Hole Collet Bearing Race and Seal Puller Extractor Kit, Slide Hammer Tool Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0798GS916

If I had the means I would weld the ECGS piece but definitely not ordering another from them.

    What hasn't been modified?
A 2 jaw puller on a slide hammer works. I’ve had to do it on 1 truck when the tool broke.
Rent the slide hammer from advance auto. It has everything you need

@TacoHungry How did the rest of the job go? Did the 8MILELAKE Blind Inner Bearing Puller set work out for you?

It worked out really well actually, would definitely recommend. There’s a lot less finesse required to get the small lip of that tool behind the bearing and begin pulling it. It ended up getting delayed in shipping over Thanksgiving but arrived Friday afternoon and I knocked it out pretty quickly.

Congrats, and thanks for the update. I’m getting ready to replace the needle bearing with the ECGS clamshell bushing in the next week or so. I made a replica of the ECGS needle bearing removal tool. If it goes south like yours did, it’s nice to have a backup plan.
