If Toyota built a 3rd gen with a supercharged 5.7 V8 for SEMA. Members would be calling their doctor because they would have an erection that has lasted more than four hours.

I've got zero issues with Nissan trucks. I just came from a 2011 Titan I had for 11 years and it was good to me. I'm glad that,

    1. This V8 Frontier is merely a concept truck
    2. It isn't equipped with a manual transmission

I'd jump back in a heart beat and happily pay Tundra TRD Pro money for one.

If a V8 is ever added to a Tacoma, they are going to need to add a second fuel tank also.

This thread has me thinking. 4.7 from a 2005-2009 GX, take the front axle or at least delete the ADD/stub shaft, swap in the trans and transfer from the same GX. You'll have a V8, full time 4WD, locked transfer case with 2 speed hi/low manual engagement. That sounds like a huge win. And the 4.7 can sound really good with the right exhaust. That might be a sick project for fun.

I enjoyed this concept more. Built, boosted VK56 with 600hp, 680lb-ft and the Frontier's CD009 6MT behind it.

    https://youtu.be/pZVwfWNRt9k

The F-Alpha platform shared a lot components and structure so a lot can be done using factory Nissan bits. The Pathfinder briefly had the 5.6L as an option so it certainly fits a Frontier just fine, they even share a transmission. A common offroad setup for the Frontier, Xterra and Pathfinder uses Titan control arms, tie rods, front diff & CVs for a 6" wider stance, nearly twice as much suspension travel and a much stronger axle setup. Several options for bigger brakes exist too.

The VK56 is quite fancy for a production engine meant for trucks and vans. It's getting quite a lot of attention in motorsport applications these days.

Nearly twice as much suspension travel as a Frontier means about the same as a stock Tacoma?

Same clearance as a stock Tacoma too with the 3-4" lift you end up with (lol). Can push it to about 11" with bolt on stuff, the whole package is nice for a budget midsize wheeler IMO!

Japanese car companies: look at this earth killing V8 powered monster with long travel suspension that we will never sell because there’s no market for off road vehicles!

Ford and Chrysler: we make legit off-road vehicles and can sell them. There’s a market.
