I was going to just resurrect a thread on this subject from a couple years ago, but I guess I have to be a member for thirty days(??) to reply to it.

Looking at one of these Taco Garage TRD grilles for my SR. Has anyone purchased one of these lately? Just curious how the quality is, if they are still made well.

Had one in my second gen and plan to get one for the third gen now. Quality was great in my opinion.

I have considered getting one. I just cannot get over the sensor cover look.

I'd like to keep my new Tacoma all Toyota but the OE grilles are a bit too spendy for me. I can get an OE TRD grille from our sister store for ten over cost, but even then it's about $400 with the tax. The Taco Garage grilles go for $200. I guess it's all relative; I work at a Dodge store and Ram grilles go for $400 - $1700 for the new models.

Yeah, that's the thread I tried to revive but it wouldn't let me. I was looking for more recent input: Sometimes a product isn't the same as it was two years ago.

If you are fine with black letters buy an OEM grille part PT228-35200-20. This is the one that comes with the TRD lift kit upgrade. I have been running this and an OEM garnish part 53141-35060 for over a year and a half with no issues ever. Make sure to get the push nut that secures the garnish to the grille, part 90183-06044.

I have a ‘21 trail edition and they did ask for my VIN, which they accepted.

    It's a '23.

Yeah, it's ridiculous how much they charge for the garnish. Must be some pretty special plastic.

I bought one from them about 4 months ago with the garnish and have no issues with it. It fits well with no error codes from the sensor.

On mine there are no way to screw back in the 8 screws that I took off my original grille. Looks great and seems study just clipped in, but that has me nervous.

Bought one around three years ago from Taco Garage, still holding up great.
