Headed to Soldotna! Hit me up if you'd like to reserve a spot. Walk-ins are welcome, but anyone with a scheduled appointment gets priority.

    Moving to Fairbanks-
I need to winterize my 2019 Tacoma TRD for the move up from down South. I'm looking for a good battery pad charger and oil pan heater. Does anyone have a specific brand/product they can recommend? Also, it seems like nobody recommends block heaters anymore....just the battery & oil plan....is that correct?
    Thanks in advance!

I think if you only do one oil pan is preferred since it heats from the bottom, in theory this should make the oil heat more evenly. Since we don't have to remove a freeze plug to do block heater it's nice insurance to have both. I'm in Anchorage now and will use both if I'm parking outside overnight below 0°. Manufacturers still recommend plugging anywhere below 32° I think. When I was in Fairbanks I was driving a T100 and had a plugin at work. At home I used the battery heater and pan heater usually. At work it was battery, oil pan, trans pan, and in cab heater. Any winterization can run up your electric bill if you're plugging everything in.

I've had both the battery heater and battery tender, I prefer the tender. Others may have more input.

    Howdy folks,

So the time has come to replace my beloved regular cab with a 4-door Tacoma. Instead of waiting on who knows what might show up to the various Kendall dealerships. I found exactly the one I wanted at a dealership in Tacoma. My only issue is devding how to get it up here.

My 3 options seem to be:
Fly down and drive back up the Alcan or the Cessiar.
Put the truck on a barge
Or fly down, take the Ferry up to Haines and drive the last leg.

Anyone bought a car from the lower 48 before? What did you do, and any recommendations?

    Thanks!

i have driven the alcan and the cassiar. i probably wouldn’t drive the cassiar in the winter.

with fuel prices so high i would look at getting it to seattle and then shipping it up.

but the best option for you (and me!) is to trade me your regular cab + cash for my 4-door so i can buy a tundra

I just drove the Cassiar mid November and it was a pretty calm drive with no road closures (less effort than my trip down last year in January).

Fuel cost was not terrible, you'll be going slower so you're MPG should be alright. Either way you go bring 10 gallons of spare fuel with you, so you can avoid the fuel stop at Teslin (highest fuel cost on the trip).

Also highly recommend adding diode dynamics SS3 amber fog lights, can not say enough good things about them and the number of animals they helped me avoid.

Anyone have a preferred driveline shop in Anchorage? I'm thinking about Young's Gear because I've used them in Fairbanks. Open to suggestions
