I think the Tacoma and the Frontier are good trucks and very close comparatively.
They both can transport people, stuff in the bed, tow and drive off road equally well.
Looks are subjective but I do like them both. I have no need for 4wd and prefer the simplicity of 2wd.
I recently bought a 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-X after driving several brands back to back over a few days. I also like the Ridgeline but the prices are stupid with markups. I have owned 3 Tacomas over the years and had some likes and dislikes/love/hate. No vehicle is perfect but some suit a person better based on preferences. I got my new Frontier loaded for $37K. The equivalent Tacoma(off road 2wd with oem led headlights and jlb) would have been at least $45k or more. The Frontier engine and transmission is far better than the 2.7 or 3.5 Tacoma 6 speed in city and especially highway driving especially when you factor in hills and elevation changes. The frontier seats and headroom is better for me at 6’, 210 lbs. The Frontier is getting 19-21 mpg city and 22-25 hwy for me which is a bit better than my Tacomas did.

Frontier likes: great stereo, seat comfort/more upright seating position, more headroom, rock solid straight steering -less fatiguing highway driving( less steering corrections needed) /street handling(less body roll), more back seat room, better brake feel( and no drums), easy close tailgate( one finger operation), strong engine takes off from a dead stop like it has launch control-impressive
Frontier dislikes: very heavy steering at low speeds -feels like it doesn’t have power steering( this has great steering feel at 10 mph or more)
Huge turning radius-hard to park easily sometimes, steel bed can dent or rust with time and use

Tacoma likes: looks more off roady-more ground clearance stock, small-ish turning radius for a truck, light easy steering, nicer looking interior design, slightly more supple on bigger bumps, much more aftermarket support, somehow it has an immeasurable more emotional connection to the truck, the composite bed is great

Tacoma dislikes: higher price, seating position is odd-legs straight out, engine/transmission constantly lugs/lacks power down low in the rev range, less stable steering -wanders on highway needing more frequent steering correction,

I would like more steering wheel telescoping on both trucks but the Frontier is much more comfortable for my body. I really like my Frontier quite a lot but I still find myself also liking Tacomas. I hope they fix the driving issues and comfort in the upcoming Tacoma generation.
