Recently had an retail auto parts alternator go out on me.

Has anyone rebuild their alternator themselves and if so what brand rebuild kit did you use?

New alternators seem very expensive and remanned ones like what just failed on me seem only last for 50-60K miles.

Do you know what is actually wrong with the alternator? My original one went out at 50k miles, I pulled and replaced the faulty part and now I have it a spare. I followed this write up https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-1grfe-alternator-rebuild-mud-cleanout.453757/
